Heck, I just can't stand to see the red light on when I'm not using it, so I unplug it when I'm done.

Hey Squeek, some people like to use WiiConnect24. You said yourself that you're just paranoid of leaving electronics of any sort on at night.

What are the benefits of leaving it on? I don't know of any.

Heck, I keep my wireless router unplugged too. Why would I want an open wireless connection all day and night? So someone can send me a message or a picture?

and besides i don't have problem leaving it on, besides i hate to wait a lot of time to download the questions, news or the forecast it just downloads automatically when i start playing.

Some things still update like the wii channels. I think think you can download things like demos and such on the 360 and PS3 when it's on standby. So it's nice that while your out and about your console is updateing itself I guess. Saves you coming home and having to wait.

The Wii won 6 baftas over here, which is cool. Shame the award show is fucking terrible.

You all know that Squeek is right. You don't need to have it on standby mode. Becides, when you turn on your Wii, you can get all those emails and stuff and you don't have to have it on.

Well this is how I feel. If I wanna leave my Wii's wiiconnect24 on I'll do as I please. If you don't like that decision then I'm sorry that's pretty much your problem not mine.

I think the point was, Squeek had never heard of a problem with the system overheating because he turns it off, which is not unheard of, whereas you leave it running, which increases the risk of overheating the system, which is very illogical, given the amount that you're complaining about your system heating up.

I turn the system off but Wiiconnect24 stays on, thus instead of the power light on the Wii being red its a orange color. The only thing that happens to Wii when its like that is it gets moderately warm-hot but when running and the fan shuts off and you're playing a game then its obviously gonna shut down on you. And thats what happened.

So, you know the console gets hot even while it's off, but you keep it on.

See, that's the part that boggles my mind. I noticed mine was getting warm while it was "off", so I went into the menu and turned off the "features" that stayed on while I wasn't using the console. Then the red light bothered me, so I just unplugged it after each use.
