Believe me, I'm not the one who needs convincing on that.

Wheeee!! I challenge you all to a game of Brawl!!
Peaches final smash is soo over powered compared to others.
Wavedashing being gone is a maybe. I'm 99% sure l-cancelling will still be there. Smash is an extremely fast paced game, though. A japanese kid got to play Brawl for a bit, and he said you could pick up the veterans and play them immediately. I also think Brawl will be fast paced, perhaps not as fast as Melee... But come on, guys, gives Sakurai some credit. He knows what he's doing. You all will love Brawl.

        Double standards?
I don't see what you're getting at here, Squeek, by asking if he has double standards (of course, I just woke up about 15mins ago).

Saying that he probably won't play brawl because it seems slower-paced does sound stupid - It sounds the same to me, I don't like that it's sounds slower-paced, but I'm still gonna play it - but it's more legitimate than what you say. You can't understand your true skill level based off of AI alone. So what if, when I'm practicing on my own, I can pull off stupid Rest combos as Jigglypuff? Or if my tech skill is perfect? It doesn't matter unless I can do it against an actual person - AI and people are two vastly different things. Even with items factored in.

Also, saying you won't play a game because of you don't like multiplayer is stupid. There's more to games than their multiplayer modes, such as their stories, sub stories, quests (in some games)...the list goes on. You did, however, say in another thread that you think the halo story sucks, so I'll drop this here.

            what *****?

anyway is gonna be almost the same pace for people who don't play with wavedash, besides have you ever seen the videos of brawl? that is fast paced to me.

yeah you're right(masterhickle) i can defeat 3 lvl9 computers but is harder to beat my friends.

I2awr if you're not gonna play brawl because is "slow" well.....too bad for you, you'll miss a very very big game

And how many times in the thread have I said I've never lost a match against another person?

I at least lose to the AI, so I consider it more of a challenge. People suck against me. The AI at least learns not to stand where I want them to stand when the item I threw five seconds ago is going to fall and open them up for my combo.

And again, I've played Halo's single player campaigns. The first one was decent. The second one was pathetic. Nobody around me even has an Xbox 360, so I can't play the third (not that I have any interest after playing the second one). It's a simple as that! My friend bought an Xbox for Halo, beat it once, and never used it again. He doesn't have Xbox Live and never even once considered getting it. The game he plays the most on his Xbox? Morrowind. #2? Deus Ex. The game he never plays anymore? Halo.

These same friends refuse to play me in Smash. I let them go 3v1 on me and I still win. They hate playing against me because the match is decided before I even start. So yeah, I do have human experience. It's just that every human I've played refuses to play me ever again because they're embarrassed I can win with a random character with their rules on their stage with a handicap on 3v1.

And these aren't random people. My friends are gamers. One of them 100%ed Starfox on his N64 without an FAQ. The other constantly plays new games and finishes them in record times. Heck, I think he beat Twilight Princess two days after Wii launched.

              And in more important news:

Subspace Emissary gameplay videos! I like the Pit / Mario one the best myself, but they're all awesome. Adventure mode is looking so much better every day. The game is definitely polished already.

Then you need to play against people who dont suck. Seriously, if CPUs are harder, then its not even smash.

                  Agreed.

It doesn't matter how well people do in other games. Some people excel in RPGs, some people excel in FPS, some people excel when they play by themselves. How people play in other games, in no way shape or form, translates to how they're gonna play in smash. If you're getting beat by people who can get beat by computers, you need to find new people to play. I'd play you, but I don't think you want to come down off your high horse to play one of us "tourneyfags."

At this point, I don't care. The "elitist" attitude you guys are carrying is really p!ssing me off.

You all are the ones telling me I suck if I don't play other people. I tell you I do play other people and you say they're terrible at the game. Honestly. How else am I supposed to explain my ability to play a game.

I'm sure you beat three level 9s with any random character every single time, right? Yeah, I know you do. Because you can beat Johnny Smash Man at MLGs, you must be fantastic.

We say they suck because they're flipping getting beaten by computers. The only thing computers can do in that game that we humans can't is powershield projectiles.

I don't play against multiple computers above level 5, because doing so conditions myself to fighting against computers, which is vastly different from playing a human. Computers are so predictable after one of their stocks it's unbelievable.

The best way to explain your ability at this game is to tape a few matches of you and your friends playing, upload the videos to youtube, then post the links to the videos here. Until then, I'm ultimately assuming that you and anyone else backing you up gets beaten by AI, and take pride in beating people that lose to AI weaker than that you play against.

                        Re: Super Smash Brothers Brawl

i usually play with random characters, random computer characters and random stages. sometimes i win sometimes i lose. (by the way lvl9 computers)
sometimes what squeek says it's true.... computers always do random things, using projectiles against them sometimes is useless...

it conditions you to play with computers? the answer is no. when you play with your friends tons and tons of times, you already know what they are they gonna do. for example, is really hard for me to use my favorite move with sheik (smash up) because they already know that if i hit them with that when they are in danger, it means good-bye (although i always manage to attack them with it )

wich is harder to beat? sometimes humans sometimes the AI, it depends of your skills and your friends skills.

                        (spoilers)

sooo. wario is evil in this game......he kidnaps the princess that you don't rescue

                          Re: Super Smash Brothers Brawl

Humans can change their strategy on you at any given time. If a person is smart enough, they'll know to change up what their doing when they see that people are starting to catch on to their strategy.

Example : My Jigglypuff. I'll open with a stream of B-airs, but when it suddenly stops working, what do I do? I change it up. I B-air, then while they are stunned, I float over them and hit them with an F-air, and go back to the other side of them and repeat this process as long as I can. Sometimes I'll throw in a D-air to ensure they stay stunned. But what if they can get out of that? Do I keep trying it? No. I'll B-air, float over them, and they'll act defensively against my assault because they didn't stun long enough for me to continue. But I had a backup plan for this. As soon as I land, I grab them, B-throw them, and get back into my B-air / F-air combos.

Computers, however, regardless of what you do to them, will use the same strategies over and over.

I can use the same combos on a computer each and every stock, and they won't change a thing about how they react to it. I can B-air B-air B-air......all day long, but will they ever change how they react? No.

So if I play computers too much, I get into the frame of mind that what works once, will, without a doubt, work again.

When I'm against friends, I'll try the same thing until it fails, and then at that point, I have a backup plan based on how they reacted that time.

The best part about playing someone new is getting four stocked. ..or just getting your ass beat. But getting four stocked, you're just sitting there like... Damn. What do I do? Then the next really fun part is trying to atleast get the first stock off them. lol <3 Forward

                                Re: Super Smash Brothers Brawl

You know, I've been involved in many debates between player groups in games, but never, and I mean NEVER, have I seen as much bad blood as that between tournament Smash players and casual Smash players.

Seriously, a lot of you people (not giving names to avoid resulting chaos) need to stop being so self-righteous and biased, and start considering the fact that maybe other people have fun playing different ways.

No items, neutral stages, any tactic goes is not the be-all end-all of enjoyment. Neither is all items, all stages, no glitches. Some people actually have more fun when playing in a "competitive," i.e., tournament-style setting than when playing with items and other things. Some people dislike the competitive aspect and have more fun in a casual, non-serious setting.

Also, some of you need to get off your high horse and stop believing that your definition of "skill" is THE definition of skill. It should be obvious that humans -can- be better than computers, but not all of them -are-.

So what if someone uses [insert glitch here]? If it makes the game more fun for them, why should you care? Particularly considering that it's been established that [insert glitch here] in itself doesn't make you unstoppable or give you a massive advantage.

On the other hand, if someone doesn't want to use [insert glitch here] because they have more fun when they aren't trying to learn every single aspect of the game (intended or otherwise), why should you care? If they have more fun that way, then let them.

Games are about fun. People have fun in different ways. If people actually realized this, a lot of the problems between the different parts of the Smash community could be avoided.

(For the record, I'm not a tournament Smash player by any stretch of the imagination, but I use wavedashing, L-canceling, etc. simply because it's more fun for me that way. Why? Because I like being able to say that I've learned a new technique and can apply it, especially when it isn't a broken "do-this-and-you-get-a-massive-advantage" tactic, but rather a "master-this-and-you-have-more-options" technique. At the same time, however, I recognize that many people don't get nearly as much enjoyment as I do out of mastering a plethora of techniques, so I don't have a problem with people who like to play without "advanced techniques," with items, and so forth)
