i'm WAY too lazy to actually solve it. just saying that i likely could.... although it's quite possible that i'm missing something in the complexity of the issue, because at first reading, it doesn't seem to be THAT complex of a question.

It's saying, at what critical value of p does a 2k+1 system have a higher probability of working (ie. more than half its parts working) than a 2k-1 system given that a part works with probability p?

IMO it's pretty complex when you start digging into the combinatorics and transformations. Then again I tend to suck at stat.

fyi... if you check ffrcade.com, i maxed this game. took beating it 80-90 times, IIRC, to get the 2.1 billion points. clearly i won't be doing that again, but i can easily get it 10-20 times, at least.

never beaten it on hard... what's the difference? aka, what do we need a SS of?

The interesting part about this round is that, for the most part, people can always go higher and higher and higher until that maximum.

Yep yep.

However, you get more points for playing Hard Mode, and not using bombs also gives you points. Furthermore, the bonus at the end of the game increases the more you beat it.

yea, I played this game earlier too :P

however, I was unable to loose 17 lives without gaining a single point (you deal dmg to enemies when you explode) so the 2 scores differ a little.
