      Awesome, thanks!
No matter how many times the colors of the seasons change,
these feelings will never wither, swaying like a flower
If this is just a dream, then let it be a dream. I don't care.
My heart, filled with loving radiance
      Is forever thinking of you.

These words that we play are a pleasant melody
All I want is to have you by my side,
so that I won't lose my smiling eyes
even on a night when we can't see the twinkling of the stars.

Re: List of the best VSTi's!

One of my favorite VSTs of all time is YMCK's "Magical 8bit Plug"

Magical 8bit Plug is a plug-in style software-synthesizer for producing primitive electronic sounds like the old 8bit game consoles. In Macintosh environment, it runs with AU (Audio Units)-supporting applications: ex. Logic, Digital Performer, Garageband. In Windows environment it runs with VSTi supporting applications: ex. Cubase. Most of the software/hardware synthesizers include the most primitive waveform: square wave and pulse wave. But almost none of them include the pseudo-triangle or the low-resolution noise that will most characterize the 8bit sound's unique taste. Magical 8bit Plug will help you producing the old 8bit sounds by providing those unique waveforms.
Not only that, but it's absolutely free and for both Windows and Mac, so you could even hook it up to Garageband.

        Cost: $249

This absolutely one of the best plugins ever if you're looking for that amazing jazzy sound. The website has samples to hear as well. The downside? You have to have a pretty decent computer to run it, and at least a 2.4GHz processor.

Kil also made a song using this: http://www.muzie.co.jp/download/1844...ophopremix.mp3

        Link

And for you ultimate Acid needs:

        PHOSCYON

Phoscyon is a vintage analogue modeled Bassline synthesizer with a unique low pass filter with an 18db/oct dumping and constant resonance amplitude throughout the entire frequency domain. The filter sounds phenomenal! Hear that squelch and you’ll swear its analogue! We’ve also equipped it with a fully customizable integrated arpeggiator (essential in electronic music) as well as an exhaustively analogue modeled distortion effect, crucial for those screaming acid bass lines!
        DRUMAZON

Drumazon synthesis emulates all the sounds of the original 9O9. All the instruments are synthesized in exactly the same way as the original. All the nuances and detail of the original are captured perfectly. In addition, all Drumazon instruments have enhanced controls. This extra functionality allows the user to adjust the sounds further than on the original unit. This opens up a whole new world of sound creation.
        NEPHETON

Nepheton contains 17 fully synthesized instruments perfectly emulating the famous 808 drum machine. All the nuances and details of the instruments sounds are captured perfectly. The instruments models are equipped with additional controls giving you possibility to tweak the sound much better. Listen to the audio examples or just download the demo and try it out.
They are all in the hundred prices range, listed here: http://www.d16.pl/index.php?menu=3

But don't let that stop you... with those three, you have an amazing 303, 808, and 909 simulators on your hand.

With that said, don't forget ReBirth:

Make music that sounds like you with Reason, the legendary DAW behind chart-topping hits from the world's biggest artists. Discover the virtual rack instruments and effects and build your sound.

Which is now free to download and it is an AMAZING 303 emulator as well.
put on a donk on it

@ iPatch - I'll get the thread updated tonight with your input... Good to see something coming from an oldschool member like myself

@ TK_Breed - I wouldn't make a thread for Sample Packs, solely on the reason that Sample Packs are usually just bought on CD's and such... Or downloaded from people... And sample packs aren't OFFICIAL most of the time, they are usually just bundles of .wav samples that people put together in a zip and share to the world, so it would also be hard to keep tabs on what we would suggest you to go out and buy... We have a crapload, well, because we use the resources we have at our disposal to obtain them...

@ Bottlecap - You have a thread set up for this question... So I'll just help you out in that thread instead of this one

                  I'm a fan of a lot of Steinberg's VSTs.

EDIT: Especially with their FX plugins. And The Magical 8bit is like a goddess put soup on the world for the hungry.

@ Pyro - I would actually like this thread to be its own seperate thread, as it is more along the lines of being for the more advanced (someone that has been producing for about a year or so) music producers, whereas the thread you have is about how to get started with finding the right software to get to creating music...

By all means though, feel free to link to this thread or something from that thread, but don't literally integrate seeing as they are two completely seperate threads, and this one is regularly updated by myself as time goes by... Y'know?

Re: List of the best VSTi's!

OK, I understand. I just linked to this thread and the Wiki page for VST.

PS You didn't mention Sytrus anywhere. To me Sytrus is much better than Toxic III or Poizone. Sytrus and Vanguard are my two most used VSTIs. Plus Poizone is pretty much Superwave P8 with a price tag attached.

Also, it's not in production anymore, but you can still find reFX's TBL some places. It's a very simple bass generator - I find it most fitting for hardcore, hardstyle, and hard trance. I think The Beast is the successor to it, and it's very cheap too.

I agree.. Though Sytrus can be quiiiite CPU-intensive, I use it quite a bit.

...Yeah... I'll add Sytrus under your guys' names... I was just naming an extensive list of VSTi's that I have and use and find to be very amazing... Whereas Sytrus... Not so much... The presets are pretty cool and all, but the actual modification of the synths, knob tweaks, etcetcetcetcetc are just all too confusing... Gorlock and I STILL don't know what each knob does to effect the sound...

                            But anyways...
