A game? Just go back and play it, unless its a game from the Atari, like Frogger. I own a Frogger game for the PS1 and I thought it was pretty decent. Also when it comes to game remakes like Super Mario Brothers and the New Super Mario Brothers, most people (if given the option) would choose the 1st one and that game is for the NES obviously.

Making a remake for a PS1 game is just a disgrace though, it's not THAT old yet. Now if the PS4 was out already I wouldn't use that reason.
THAT'S MY PROBLEM, i don't have those final fantasy games and as i mentioned in my country it was really hard to get those remakes (i don't know why) and getting a ps1 game in this time still is hard.

and well they don't feel like remakes for me since i didn't play them at that time (and i guess neither of you played FFIII since it was japan only)

How about instead of the makers wasting money by making a remake, you can just go to Ebay and buy the old stuff.

yet you still see more point to movie remakes? :/ i dont think i've ever seen a good remake of a movie, i really wish hollywood would come up with more new stuff instead of ruining classic films for a new generation who havent seen the original.

i dont know what you're talking about, new super mario brothers was not a remake. the remakes of the classic nes games on super mario all stars are widely apriciated however, i'd rather play those versions over the nes versions anyday. remakes like resident evil for the GC and FF3 for the DS are well done too, updating games that have aged badly in terms of graphics while keeping the playability and atmosphere of the originals. film remakes rarely acheive this and butcher the original films completely.

Final fantasy vii came out 10 years ago, so i dont think it is too soon for a remake really. the atari version of frogger was a remake of the arcade game that came out a year before that ;P then again frogger was remade for the comodore 64 in 93. games like that dont need updating anway because the gameplay is so simple that the graphics suit them and dont age as badly IMO.

I'm just saying it makes more sense to make a movie remake than a game.

I've read in a game review one time (don't remember which one though =[ ) that New Super Mario Bros. was a remake, and an addition to the series. I personally consider this a remake because the name is the same. Don't argue with me on that point, even I don't know.

When I say it hasn't been out for that long, I mean that the PS1 system isn't that old. They're only on PS3. Going from Atari to PS1 is a huge jump. PS1 to PS2/3... not that much.

Also, Frogger came out on Arcade in the year 1981, not 1996. That may have been my fault for saying Atari instead of Arcade.

i disagree, i think theres far less point in making a remake of a movie, unless they copy the movie frame by frame, update the special effects and use very similar actors it'l take away from the original experience. games remakes can be upgraded in far more ways while keeping a similar experience to the original. im still almost 100% sure that new super mario brothers is not a remake and the name isnt the same because it has new in front of it.

the jump from atari to ps1 is bigger but most games from that era dont really have much depth and remakes of them would be aged horribly. although i guess pong wasnt so bad :S anyway my point was that the game frogger was remade sooner then the ps1 game, for the atari itself, for the comodore 64 also for the atari 5600 :P so i still think 10 years is long enough. also the games just as popular as ever, possibly more so with all the spin offs so a updated version for noobs who cant stand the old versions graphics couldnt hurt...

also i never mentioned anything about the year 1996... is that when ps1 frogger came out or something?

I can see your point. I've run out of things to say about remakes now, but still I think a movie remake is better.

I've honestly never seen or heard of one for the N64 (Called Nintendo 64 in my country). Also, if you say something about Atari, please get the numbers right. It's Atari 800, 2600, 5200, and the 7800.

I read what you said wrong down a bit, sorry. Just forget I said anything about that year.

Please god let FF VII die. I mean, after the complete failure of every single spin off I think they would get the picture by now.

I had heard they were making one for the psp (explaining stuff about Zack's story) but a ps3 remake? One more reason I need a ps3. I think final fantasy is a great rpg (best of some of the rpgs I've ever played). I think they should decide when to end the story of ff7, that what mainly keeps ppl clinging to it..
