I've never bothered to ask Tass for it. Heh.

Thanks. This song in particular was done using one plugin, in FL Studio 4. No external equipment, no extra hardware, all with $5 headphones on a barely supportive PC. I am officially the most welfare artist on all of Flash Flash Revolution. I hope that says something.

I should really consider investing in a better medium. Haha.

I don't like that opening keyboard at all, it could be just me.

The filters throughout the song work really well with the main melody. But, sadly, Sane, as all your music thus far, I have to complain about one thing.

Your lack of lower frequency parts leaves the track sounding very unprofessional and almost midi-like. I expected to hear a lot more bass from that bassline. That lack of low frequency causes things like the last chorus of the song to appear really, really tinny.

Your composing skills are fantastic, but the lack of the ability to balance the levels to make a track sound "full" is really, really bringing you down.

Yeah, I don't like it either. But for some reason I felt it necessary.

But really? Checking my EQ, the lower frequences are filled up to the same level as everything else, and for a larger majority of the song too. Do you think I should add some subtle overdrive to pronounce it a tad more?

At times, your levels can mean nothing. It's all how it sounds.

Try using an harsher EQ or a lower frequency bass boost to get those up.
Or, create a clone of the bassline, then transpose one of them down an octave. Be careful, though. If you're working in FL, make sure they're separate instruments, and not just separate patterns on the same instrument.

Yep. I'm rendering something now. It already sounds better, but I'm testing it on headphones. It should be fine though.

and not just separate patterns on the same instrument
Out of curiosity... why not? Is there something I don't know?

              Re: DJ SANE Presents "Butterflies"

What happens is that it'll generally only read the top note only.

Like, say you have a bassline that's playing the C5 key and in a different pattern the same bassline playing a E4 key at the same time. It will play the C5 key only.

What happens is that when you make two instruments, it's like like two separate parts playing two different notes, not one part attempting to play two notes at the same time. In the electronic music world, multiple instruments playing the same part to support the general sound is called "layering"

So, basically, you're layering your bassline to make it sound stronger.

I thought that is strictly a plugin limitation, and only for some? I don't notice any problem if I layer in, say, Vanguard, by using the same track.

This bass is sounding tight. Boosting it also REALLY brought out what was once some very subtle filter fluxuations. Tight.

For some it is, for some it isn't.

It mainly has to do with the way Vanguard handles tracks. Considering it's a multi-voice plugin, it can do that. Mutli-voice basically means that you can play more then one note at a time without it screwing up.

To tell you the truth I've been waiting since I made this thread for you to post. I was even about to ask where you were, until I saw that you posted. Wooh! Awesome!

I'm glad people are volunteering. I can work on some lyrics, but do you think you'd be able to figure out a tune and rhythm for the chorus and verses? I think it would be better to bring a new perspective to the song. Anyways, add me on MSN if you have it: drsane_@hotmail.com
