So in a thread asking you for your own personal opinion on the practice of using internet sources to help with your homework, and whether that constitutes cheating, you log your response as "It is up to the scholastic body."

Well...obviously it is up to the scholastic body, thus the question of whether -you- think it is appropriate.

That is my response, it is up to the scholastic body, that is when -I- think it is appropriate.

So you believe that it is appropriate whenever the scholastic body thinks it's appropriate.

Which would mean that if the scholastic body suddenly said "The Internet can no longer be used on any school assignment, period" you would agree, right?

I definitely wouldn't be happy, but if they said that, I don't think it would be appropriate to use the internet at all on assignments for that school from then on.

You say you "wouldn't be happy." This means you don't agree, correct? We're not asking what you would do, we're asking what you -think- about the topic. You can completely disagree with a law yet remain in compliance with it; we're asking what you think of the law, not what you will do if it's been enacted.

Personally I would consider almost all instances of getting outside help cheating, but In most of those cases I would still do it myself.
At your second point I couldn't help but think of thoughtcrime (I just had to reread 1984 for summer reading).

I use the internet a lot for homework.
Never to cheat or anything. I used it alot for Literature to help better understand what the authors were talking about and for Spanish for translating and stuff.

Well, i see that cheating is so cliche', but at times I might use it. But like some people have stated. Most of the people who just ask for an answer and no form of explanation, really makes them rather idiotic.

I think that asking for help is really a good thing, because it shows that you give a damn about what you are learning in a certain subject. Teachers can't blame the internet for giving us so many good sources on how to study and such. But then there are some people who just wanna screw over and get everything from the net. Those are the idiots.
