The reason grammar is such a big deal on this forum is because it's such a popular site and it attracts loads of n00bs. "cing ppl typ lyk dis getz anoyin ya no?" Basically, we just want to comprehend what you're saying. And a comma can make a sentence mean something completely different which is why you might see people mention it.

IE:

I don't want to bitch.
and
I don't want to, bitch.

Anyone who knows grammar will be able to tell what each means and why the comma changes it completely.

Yeah okay i agree with u on that there are alot of people who do ''typ lyk dis'' but most of those people are the ones that start to judge and offend, insult,etc. with other people I think most of us who do use proper grammar dont need to put up with sh!t like that

Uh, you're part of a group which uses proper grammar? Your last post was seven lines without a single punctuation mark (aside from the one you used to evade the swear filter). Seven lines of a run-on sentence. We ask that people use good grammar to avoid stuff like that. I couldn't even finish reading your post because I got lost due to the complete absence of grammar. People need to be ragged on for bad grammar so that this doesn't become a prevalent problem.

Not everyone is your friend. In fact, there exist individuals who take advantage of the anonymity of the internet and go around pissing people off. They are called trolls. They are the scum of the internet, and we do our best to ban trolls.

The thing about trolls is, if you ignore them, they go away. They want attention, because they didn't receive enough parental attention growing up, thus making them semi-retarded. Just ignore them.

You think this is bad, you should go to Facepunch forums. They ban you for anything they can think of, and they love it. Someone got banned because they used Rapidshare, it's that bad.

Banned for hosting something on rapidshare when there is a website (garrysmod.org) dedicated to hosting that kind of stuff so you don't have to waste time downloading something off of rapidshit. You don't get banned as often as you think, just don't act like an idiot (except in OIFY) and you're fine.

Its ridiculous, y'know? People just have to find something to be rude about, mostly grammar.

Nobody really cares about grammar unless it's illegible, it's a really silly mistake (usually if it changes the context), the person should know better by then (here's a shout-out to Guido, Squeek, and Firefox 2.0 for getting me out of bad grammar/spelling habits <3), or if the person posting makes a big deal about their own grammar.

If you're referring to us being mean to fido, well then, he's guilty of the 4th on that list.

Complaining about minor typos is silly. Hell even I do it, I just did a few posts ago. And nobody here ever complains about not using the shift key--hell half the time we don't use it (although usually for sarcasm or due to not being serious) and I know someone irl who doesn't like bad grammar/spelling who NEVER uses shift (I don't know exactly how well her grammar is though, I don't care so I don't pay attention).

You should use good grammar/spelling, but at the same time you shouldn't complain when someone uses bad grammar/spelling. It's a thing relating to mutual respect and mutual courtesy. Hell I wrote an essay about that kind of stuff before, it was awzummm 8)

Haha Ctrl-Alt-Delete is insanely strict to the point where I'd never even think of even mixing up than/then there. I once challenged a mod's logic and almost got a ban, the next guy in that thread who talked about the subject, in fact, did 8)
