You can't say a score with editted metrics is legit.

    Dead on, Kefit.

It's like saying a score using a custom noteskin isn't legit. All it does is help you read it better - it doesn't make hitting the keys any easier (like changing timings.)

Timing is easier on higher speed mods.

Who cares if you play on 2.5x or 3x or any ?x for that matter? Either way you're changing something. It doesn't make it any easier to play on 2.5x rather than 3x.

The only thing that I consider cheating is the C200, 400, etc.

Sometimes 3x is too fast, but 2.5x is not.

you guys sure are trying hard to make my opinion wrong. nothing said here changes my mind about changing metrics. its doesnt come in the game for a reason. If you put in a cheat/code for a video game its like doing the same thing , giving you an unfair advantage over others.

ill stick by my opinion so if you feel like trying to prove me wrong dont bother, it honestly doesnt matter to me if you think my opinion is wrong (making you a biggot)

No, it wasn't. It's not like Stepmania expands the window, but when you see the arrows better, you can hit them with more accuracy.

The way I said it did make me look dumb, though.

I'm agreeing with Privateer, Jello, and whoever else says that changing Metrics is cheating. Its fine if you practice with your own speed mods, hell, practice with edited ini's if you want to, but when posting a screenshot... do it with the default metrics... seriously....
Whoever doesn't know what default metrics are, they would be...
                  0.25x, 0.5x, 0.75x, 1x, 2x, 3x, 4x, 5x, 8x (i omitted c200/300/400 for a reason)
granted that 4x and 5x usually dont come together in the same alpha, but honestly, who cares, they're available in different versions.

i believe (as another person said) that the only really unfair thing are the C### speed mods. getting rid of the pauses and slowdowns totally kills certain factors of difficulty, and i personally refuse to play with those mods. as for custom scroll modifiers, they're no big deal, i dont think. i mean, 3x isnt in DDR (at least i dont think) but people use that and call it legit. also, one other person said it, but as long as u see what mods they played it with, it's legit. somehow editing the pic so it looks like u played Bag at .25 speed when really it was C400 would be non-legit, or trying to pass off low judge AAAs as high judge ones.

in any case, there's no use in arguing. in the end, we'll all remain with our views unchanged, and this whole post will become a giant flame war. that's what ALWAYS happens. (almost)
So I've gone completely slack-ass and haven't done any work on creating games. =(

In less-depressing news, I got a job for an online business (which sells non-electronic games, of all things!) which has taught me a lot about marketing online and all that jazz.

So now I'm on Twitter @NoahWright.
And I write the blog for their website.

Plus I do cool programming in-house that you'll never see. =O

And when you're using a skin like Note+ that doesn't come with Stepmania, you can see the arrows better, and thus hit them with more accuracy.

It doesn't make Note+ (or any other custom noteskin) cheating or even illegitimate.

Sometimes 2x is too fast, but 1.5x is not. That doesn't mean that 1.5x is illegitimate just because you it comes as default on many themes.

Remember that what speed mods are available depends solely on theme. TM, for example, has tons of speed mods, whereas accurate DDR-simulating themes have very few.

people are still going to use edited metrics. i am, and everyone else who considers it legit will too. there is going to be half of us who agree, and another half that won't. you can't just post a thread that says it's officially not legit.

This will never end.. You guys know it too.. This is one of those things where we need one of the sides to give in.. otherwise we'll have people posting pics with edited metrics and other people will call them cheaters.. then it just becomes a flame thread.. And it will go on..
