    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tetrachromat Reading it now

Edit 1: "Tetrachromacy has not yet been discovered in any mammals, though it is likely that it occurs in some birds, fish, amphibians, reptiles, arachnids and insects"

Edit 2: "It has been suggested that women who are carriers for variant cone pigments may be born as full tetrachromats, having four different simultaneously functioning kinds of cones to pick up different colors.[1] One study suggested that 2-3% of the world's women may have the kind of fourth cone that lies between the standard red and green cones, giving, theoretically, a significant increase in colour differentiation. [1] Although further studies will need to be conducted to verify tetrachromacy in humans"

Instead of taking her out to a movie and buying her popcorn, bend her over the arm of a couch. It's very economical. Just make sure you are using the proper protection, because then it can become VERY, VERY GOD DAMN UNECONOMICAL if she pops a baby 9 months down the road.

I agree that eye surgery could be very dangerous; I still don't have the slightest idea how someone doctors are gonna fit something in my eye, let alone imagine what colors I would see if they ever do!

To insert the cones they would need a very powerful microscope and be able to put them on the retina. This is highly unpractical in my opinion.
