I like the idea to allow homosexual marriages.. I think it's a MUST.. Since, in America everyone has Rights, Freedom of speech.. and such more..
But.. Let's think about it know. Why do people cringe thinking about the thought of Gay Marriage?.. Is it that they're Homophobic?.. or just straight-out *insert name of man gentials..* .. Ya know?..
Well.. anyways.. I think it SHOULD be allowed.. because that's just wrong to say that you can't be allowed to be yourself, cause either way, We're gonna do it anyways. *shrug* Buut.. since the people that control the whole nic-nac-patty-wack want to be like that.. *shrug* You can't really do anything about it unless if you really take some action.. ^^
I'm not sure why anyone can deny love like that.. :3
yes some ppl believe that marriage is just so you can have babies and furhter the species and whatnot
i don't believe that...at all
marriage basically is a special bond between ppl
with legalities and such
to deny anyone from marrying another person is just idiotic
i mean how would you like it if one day you decided to get married
but someone came up behind you, slapped you on the head, and said no that's just gross
or something...and yes i kno it's not likely...but still
personally, i don't think i want to get married...
i believe that in a true relationship, you just need the love and commitment
you don't need marriage
but lots of ppl think otherwise
and that's just fine with me
ppl need to learn to be more open minded and accepting
or they should just go play in traffic

That wasn't really well put at all...
This thread is really completely dead now. Nothing new or useful to the discussion has come up in some time, just constant rehashings of the same logic that we already acknowledged and moved past pages ago.
All that is happening now is someone randomly comes into the thread goes "I like it" or "I don't like it" (Which aren't supposed to be CT posts anyway) and the bandwagoners all post once again the same thing they already did saying "I like it too" or "I don't like it too"
Lamoc, there's a very large difference between "This thread is completely dead" and "The topic (presumably "of homosexual marriage") is dead"
Yes clearly many people on this forum have opinions one way or another, but all pretense of critical thinking has long since vanished. Everyone with a vested interest in critically examining the political ramifications of homosexual-marriage legislation have said what they want to say and moved on...all that is left is a cavalcade of "I like it" "I like it too!" "I don't like it" "You hate gay people" "Gay people are wrong" And so on and so on, presumably ad infinitum.
Firstly, for those of you who dont believe in gay marriage for religous reasons, a gay couple could just as easily marry at a court house or in a ceromony preformed by a judge rather than a priest, pastor, or whatever else. Many people in todays culture be married not to be "married" becuase they are just as happy as unmarried couple living together as they would be otherwise. Instead many people are marrying due to the benifits and security purposes. Say If a man supports his family and he dies, and the parents were not married.. the women is kind of screwed. However insurance pays off to spouces, as well as life insurance and everything else. It is not right to take that security from a homosexual relationship either. Those two people live together and support eachother like any hetrosexual couple. They have just as much right to those benifts as anyone else.
On the subject of marriage being a life time band between two people, This is also true. We have no right to say a homosexual couple can not take that step in devoting themselves to one another. from this stand point, the marriage is strictly about love and devotion, which last time a checked is just as legit between homosexuals as it is hertosexuals.
In conclusion, No one has a right to tell you who you can and cannot love and devote yourself to. Further more, as a country who prides itself on freedom, isnt telling a homosexual couple seeking not only the devotional part of marriage but the legal bennift of marriage, they cant get married, completely going against the idea of freedom?
Er...if you'd actually read any of the thread you'd see that we long since acknowledged that the seperation of church and state means that churches can decided all on their own whether they want to allow it or not, but that our entire discussion was about the -LEGAL- status of "Married" which (also because of the seperation of church and state) has nothing to do with religious union at all.
