Your text already looks pretty good. It's basic, but basic is a hell of alot better than ****ty layer-styled text- So, I think you've got it down.

Yes, computer art. In photoshop at school we had to draw portraits.

I used a drawing tablet btw.

if it wasnt that then i would have guessed sharpend and add noise all over the thing to make it look like that.
