Remember, guys, it's not about having a white person or a man in office, it's about not having a black person or a woman in office.

Women are so much more trouble than blacks, seriously.

Jesus, I remember voting in the last election...

P.S. My avatar is a giant sarcastic joke. I like Obama and I will probably vote for him.

I don't realy see why everyone cares about Obama being African and Hillary (Starts booing and throwing tomatoes) being female. I vote based on policy, not race or gender.

                Democratic race for president

Yesterday I was watching the news and it mentioned that Hilary Clinton and Barrack Obama, I think that's how you spell his last name, are running against each other for being the candidate for the presidential race that's coming up. So I was thinking, if Barrack wins, we might have our first black president. If Hilary wins, we might have our first female president. So, that means that even if Hilary wins or it Barrack wins, each one of them will make history. So, what do you think? If you could vote, which one would you choose, the first female president or the first black president, or will you vote the republican way? You tell me.
P.S I would probably vote for Barrack.

I'd almost never vote for a Republican, and I'd prefer Hillary, since I don't really know much about them, but that's who my parents seem to favor lol.

To be honest with you, I REALLY dislike Hillary. I have no idea what it is about her, but Obama definietly has my vote if he makes it. I hope he does.

Why is this in Media? I'm just going to merge this with the existing thread in CT.

Also: not a chance in hell that I'm voting for either of them, and an equally small chance of my voting democrat.

Voting based on party lines is retarded. Voting based on the opinion of your parentals is retarded. How about we look at the issues first, k pumpkin? (not addressed to Andy, because I assume you look at all of the issues. If you don't, shame on you.)

                          Re: 2008 Presidential elections

I see no problem voting party line. Well, when I don't know everything I can about the candidate, of course. Were there a democrat who agreed with me on every major issue, sure, I'd vote for him over a republican with whom I disagreed on a couple of issues.

But let's be real; that's not going to happen without a total paradigm shift in politics.

I pay enough attention to Presidential, Gubernatorial, and sometimes state elections, but who really knows all that they can about every candidate on that ballot? I don't, but I'm going to vote, anyway, and solely on party lines in those cases. Why? Because people who call themselves republicans or democrats or libertarians or what have you clearly think that they associate with that group. Those who associate with, say, republicans, are more likely to agree with me on issues.

It's either only vote for three people during election years (thus defeating the purpose of our election system), or vote along party lines. I choose the latter.

                            Re: 2008 Presidential elections

Texas has a large republican population.

Being as this will be the first election I can vote in, I've been paying attention to it all. Personally, the idea of Obama being president excites me, but I do not know his standpoint on a lot of important issues; he's just a great orator. Clinton gets bad rep for voting for the war, and being perceived as "cold and calculating". I personally don't have anything against her, so I wouldn't mind voting for her if she gets the democratic nod. Guiliani was a joke up here in NY. Sure, he was mayor during 9/11, and therefore will be perceived as a hero or something. The Guiliani I remember was one of terrible tax reform, domestic violence, and gay association(I'm not against that). McCain would need a great campaign to get his publicity out there.

I realize it's rather early, but I'd like to hear some plans from Obama and Clinton each. It'd take a whole lot to have me vote Republican. *Note, I'm not anti-republican because of Iraq. I support the war, but maybe not the logistics of it.

So you're assuming anyone with a party affiliation should vote for the party regardless of who's running because the only other choice in your situation "beats the purpose of the election system?"

That's not an assumption at all. I'm going to assume (u c wut i did ther) that that was just a poor choice of word...

And not exactly. What I do (note: everything I said is what I do isn't right for everyone out there, especially people who tend toward the middle.

Also, if you'll note, I really only suggest doing that for elections in which the voter doesn't really know much at all about any of the candidates. In that case, the only knowledge you have is that the republican candidate is more likely going to support republican ideals, the democrat democrat ideals, and anyone else. I, for example, really like republican ideals and dislike those of democrats, so I'm going to vote for the guy who's more likely to do things that I want, judged completely on party affiliation.

                                What's wrong with that?
