Really? I thought "atashi" was for females, and "watashi" was generally formal...I guess boku is more acceptable. Oh well.Comment

の わいSo I've gone completely slack-ass and haven't done any work on creating games. =(
In less-depressing news, I got a job for an online business (which sells non-electronic games, of all things!) which has taught me a lot about marketing online and all that jazz.
So now I'm on Twitter @NoahWright.
And I write the blog for their website.
Plus I do cool programming in-house that you'll never see. =OComment

Re: This is urgent. Does anyone speak Japanese?
"atashi" is informal and only used by females (and effeminate males).
"watashi" is your standard non-gender "I."
"watakushi" is extremely formal.
"boku" is informal and only used by males (and masculine females).
"ore" is even more informal.
"jibun" is what badasses use...or so I've been told.Comment

yes
yes. Can also be used in situations where watashi is too polite but ore is too informal.
boku is used by males, and more childish. Often used by kids until they graduate to ore.
jibun is like onself. Can be used slightly different than all the others.* Other than that, it's pretty formal "I".

Alright! We've established the various ways one can refer to oneself!

Jibun is used to to refer to someone else in the Osaka dialect; that's my understanding anyway.Originally posted by j-rodd123wowComment
