I have 2 holes in each ear and one on the top of my left ear. Tongue and belly button pierced as well. Then one tattoo on my hip and another on my right calf. I love them all and am planning on a couple more piercings and one more tattoo (somewhere on my back).

Personally i don't get a thrill out of piercings or tattoos, i just like how they look. However there is some research that links tattooing and/or piercing to a "thrill" or excitement through the release of adrenalin during the process. For this reason people can become so called "addicted" to tattooing and/or piercing in much the same way any thrill seaker or "adrenalin junky" would. They gain a feeling through a specific experience and wish to recreate that feeling again and again causing them to get more and more piercings and tattoos.

I have wanted to get the side of my lip pierced since March or so.

But I have both of my ear lobes pierced once.

I've never wanted piercings/tattoos on myself, and I don't know why, but pretty much anything besides earrings on other people have just never done it for me. Honestly, I've never looked at a person's tattoo and thought that it made them look better or anything. Same goes for all the rings in the nose/lip/tongue/eyebrow/etc. I personally think people look better without them.

I certainly respect tattoos/piercings as artforms, though. Different strokes for different folks is all.

I find the labret to be very attractive.
( I'm still unsure if it means anywhere on your lip or just the center )

However, I like it on the side.
I find that it looks stupid on everyone no matter who it is or what the stud/ring is. >.<


I forgot to mention that I would like to get a tattoo when I am older.
Of what though, I'm not sure.
But I would like to have something permanent on my body that signifies something important to me.

I plan on getting 2 tattoos as soon as I turn 21 (parents also very against it). As long as you can hide your tattoo, it’s well worth it in my opinion.
Tatoos are a work of art, if you take the time to look at some people who already have tattoos, most of them tell a good story.

People can get either for so many reasons, there isn't truly a distinct reason that covers everyone, but, there are some that I would think are more common than others.

1.) Endorphins are released when you get piercings and Tattoo's so, the sheer sensation of those being released could be a reason.
2.) The idea that a work of art or body modification can be done. It makes you feel as though you have more control over your body or your able to manipulate it more to your own choices and standards, perhaps raising your awareness of control over your own body.
3.) Societal influence. A lot of people get Tattoo's because they fit into a certain clique or because it's just suited in todays society. Generally, western culture (With exceptions as well, of course) gets them more or less as a fashion statement. Other places it could be Tribal, or something family related, so..There are tons of reasons.

Don't like either of 'em.

I don't mind tatoos as much. I just don't like them 'cause...you're going to have that thing forever. If you ask me, it's something that cost too much that you can do with a sharpie every day

I think piercings (except on ears) are outright disgusting. Who'd want some piece of metal, plastic, or whatever sticking out of you. if you want something like that. Why not just stab yourself and call it cool?

I think piercing your lips or tongue is beyond stupid. But hey, whatever makes you tick. Something about holes in your body, turn me off. And that you can pull them....

Im going to school next year to be a body piercer (body modifier) and i do condone all forms of pierceing but all i have is my ears gauged to 00
