          g) Your ethnicity:

          2. History
          a) Did you grow up in a large city, small city, large town, small town, rural area, or other? (If other, please specify)
My 18 childhood years were spent in different states and settings. Too many to list.

          b) Did you grow up with a religious family?
          No.

          c) Is your home family (parents and siblings) a large family, or small?
Small: currently it's just me and my mom in a house; my older sister is at Southern Cal, and my father is God-Knows-Where...

          d) Would you say your family is more tolerant of different sexual orientations, or more homophobic?
I never really posed the question, but I'd say tolerant, as I'm autistic.

          e) Is there anyone in your family, or among old friends, who is gay/bi/lesbian/trans?
Not my family, but I had numerous friends and classmates who were.

          f) If yes, have you ever felt threatened by their sexuality?
Just once, when a kid wanted to jack it in front of me; I said go to the bathroom, and he said it was too dirty. I almost threw up... but ever since it's been okay with me.

          g) Have you ever questioned your own sexuality?
Many a time, but I know now that I'm straight for sure.

          3. Present Time
          a) Are there any homo/bi/transexuals in your life right now?
          Not right now.

          b) If yes, how do they relate to you? (Close friends, acquaintances, family, etc?)
          N/A

          c) Hypothetically, if your best friend came out to you as gay/bi/les/trans, how would you react?
I'd be cool, as long as they didn't try to proposition me in a weird way...

          d) How do you think your family would react if they found out they had a gay child/sibling?
I don't know. We don't usually talk much about that.

          e) Is homophobia present in your school and/or work place?
No, but I'm sure it will be there sooner or later.

          4. Opinions/Deeper thinking
          a) What would you say the cause of homosexuality is?
          There's no specific cause. It's a choice.

          b) Do you believe it is something that can be cured, like a disease; a disorder that can’t be cured, but can be slowed down; a genetic imbalance; a choice; or something else?
It's a choice. It's degenerative to call it anything else. They're just people like us.

          c) What is your opinion on gay marraige and/or adoption by gay couples?
If they love each other, who would I be to stop them?

          d) Why do you think there is so much homophobia in the world? (Religion, culture, tradition, health, etc?)
Because many people don't understand it well.

          e) Why did you choose take this survey?
To help enrich others' viewpoints on the matter.

            2. History

            a) Did you grow up in a large city, small city, large town, small town, rural area, or other? (If other, please specify) city size 50,000
            b) Did you grow up with a religious family? mom religious, dad not
            c) Is your home family (parents and siblings) a large family, or small? 2 parents, 2 siblings
            d) Would you say your family is more tolerant of different sexual orientations, or more homophobic? more tolerant (I think/hope)
            e) Is there anyone in your family, or among old friends, who is gay/bi/lesbian/trans? umm, not that I know of, not anyone who I was ever really close to.
            f) If yes, have you ever felt threatened by their sexuality?
            g) Have you ever questioned your own sexuality?
Not really. I suppose if I have, I've never had an issue with being straight and identifying myself as such, so it never became an issue.

            3. Present Time

            a) Are there any homo/bi/transexuals in your life right now? Yes
            b) If yes, how do they relate to you? (Close friends, acquaintances, family, etc?) friends/acquaintance
            c) Hypothetically, if your best friend came out to you as gay/bi/les/trans, how would you react? "Why didn't you tell me eariler?" I'd be hurt that they couldn't trust me with telling me earlier. They're my best friend!
            d) How do you think your family would react if they found out they had a gay child/sibling? They'd probably think the person's a little outta whack, but only because no one's given off any signals as to being gay before, so it'd be really odd to have them suddently change their sexuality. It'd be seen more of an 'exploring' thing I think.
            e) Is homophobia present in your school and/or work place?
A little that I know of, and oddly from people who say they're alright with it. "As long as I don't have to see anything, everything's fine," she says. She wouldn't like it if she saw a homosexual couple holding hands while grocery shopping. I have relatives who are openly homophobes though.
            4. Opinions/Deeper thinking

            a) What would you say the cause of homosexuality is? Probably something largely genetic based. Although culture certainly plays a role. I heard on CBC radio a couple weeks ago that the Greeks used to think that for men to want women instead of boys could be considered freakish.
            b) Do you believe it is something that can be cured, like a disease; a disorder that can’t be cured, but can be slowed down; a genetic imbalance; a choice; or something else? I'm sure with enough research, we'd find the real causes for people being gay, and from that happening, then I think that it could be 'cured'. However, it's not a disease or disorder unless society thinks it's one, (since its based on behaviour and not physical health), so I see no reason why it should be cured. The whole 'choice' thing, which I've heard people go on and on about, I don't agree with, even though at my university it was certainly what was preached as 'the truth' about homosexuality. I don't have much of a choice in what I'm sexually attracted to, and I don't see how anyone else, gay or straight, could really 'choose' what they're attracted to. I have control over my actions, but only a very small amount of choice into what arouses me.
            c) What is your opinion on gay marraige and/or adoption by gay couples?
My opinion is that its perfectly fine. I've heard people distinguish between these 2 questions though, from someone gay actually. She said that marriage is only between a man and a woman, but had no problem with common law, children, etc, essentially, everything that marriage stands for.
            d) Why do you think there is so much homophobia in the world? (Religion, culture, tradition, health, etc?) Culture, tradition, the usual. Most people aren't tolerant in general.
            e) Why did you choose take this survey? To help you out with your project. I know the need to bother people to do my expts. I feel your pain into needing info! Good luck with it

edit: I'm the oldest person to take this, and I'm the only female beside the original poster too. Yowsers!

e)Most likely to some degree, but not sure
              Opinion
              a) Either genetics, upbringing, childhood experiences, or a combination of these.
b)I believe it is a natural disposition or trained thought pattern that if genetic can not be cured, but if trained, is difficult to overcome. I feel it is up to the individual wether he wants to accept it or reject it.
c)I am against it mainly on behalf of the adopted child. It would most likely lead to mixed emotions and feeling of the child, as well as result in him becoming a social outcast at school, even being ridiculed by some parents.
d)People fear what they do not understand, and in order to understand homosexuality, one must experience it to some degree.
e)Bored and I thought my responses might help.
