The only problem I have with the wrist strap is when I'm playing tennis. The little plastic connector between the strap and the string always hits the remote and makes that clunk sound.

That's my only problem with it.

      Peter, you bought one?

Oh well, no luck for me. Looks like we're going to buy it in a couple weeks and then not touch it until Christmas.

If anybody's seen the trailer to Valve's "Portal", it looks amazing. I'm pretty sure it's for the Wii

          Re: The Wii is Here.

WarioWare, Metroid Prime 3, Monkey Ball, and Zelda were the four reasons I wanted this thing in the first place.

First of all, Super Monkey Ball and WarioWare are only the most perfect applications of the Wiimote ever. The only exception would be Katamari Damacy. Man, that would rule on the Wii.

But that was my thinking months ago. Now that I've played five games on Wii, I can honestly say it's perfect for almost every game. I would never even consider playing Zelda on Gamecube now that I've played it on Wii even if the Gamecube version were FREE. The pointer for most weaponry and sword swinging is done absolutely perfectly. The one beef I had with the original Zelda demo was that sword-swinging was done with "A". That's lame. So glad they changed it. Even if it's just a slight flick of your wrist, it's so much more realistic and natural.

Red Steel would suck if not for the controls, end of story. Again, as I posted before, I'm getting into it again and it's pretty cool now. Most people are calling it a "love or hate" game, and I kinda agree.

Monkey Ball is just excellent. Using the controller to tilt the stage was done so amazingly well. I originally hated the concept of jumping, but now that I've used it, I can see how it really makes the game even harder than it was before.

Wii Sports is great. Bowling, Baseball, and Tennis are very accurate with timing and motion. Golf still irks me a bit but I'm learning (getting -1 and -2 on my 3-course games!). Boxing still bothers me because I cannot seem to punch anywhere other than directly in front of me.

Trauma Center is probably better than the DS version even though they're the same game. The controls were very smooth and felt very immersive. Can't wait to buy it.

I still think certain games (Like WarioWare) are the most perfectly suited games for this system, so obviously I cannot wait for their release.

The game I am mostly anticipating Is Sonic and Smash Bro's. Im a die hard sonic fan and I can't wait to have sonic blasting through levels. I look forward to the soundtrack as well. Smash bro's just goes without saying really.

Did anyone of you buy or play Madden '07 yet? I have Zelda and Madden at my house, but just need the system.

I've read the reviews on Madden, and they seem to be pretty encouraging, but just wanted to hear from someone that's played the game here.

As far as Zelda goes, does anyone think it's better than OoT? Many of the reveiws I've read say so.

Apparently Madden 07 incorporates the new control scheme of the Wii extremely well. I was thinking of renting it when I get my Wii. Some reviews have even said that they couldn't image the game being played any other way.

An update for the Wii Shop is now available. The Wii Shop cannot be accessed until the update is downloaded. It does not change the version number, or anything in the shop; my guess is that it patches the browser hack. I'll let you guys know when I find out.

Yes, it did. It was out two days ago. The browser hack was the primary purpose for the patch.

It also made sure parental controls were asked before kids went to the virtual console section.

PS - Wii launches in Japan in like 3 hours!

                        Re: The Wii is Here.

Ok I just beat Zelda. Literally watching the credits as we speak.

That was incredible. I absolutely cannot wait to play it through a second time. That's how amazing it is. I don't even know if there's a "second time through" thing.

I got absolutely everything before I finished the game but I still saved before I finished up just to make sure. I mean, NOBODY has a complete list yet because the game is literally 10 days old. So my guess is that I 100%d it, but I have no idea. I had all the bugs, all the skills, all the heart pieces, all the upgrades I could think of...

Oh, I forgot to get the rest of the Poes. Meh. I guess that's why I saved right before going in.

Anyway, the game was spectacular. If you don't have this game, I cannot even begin to fathom reasons why not.

@ Sqeek: So I take it you think Twilight Princess is the best Zelda game ever? I know you haven't played Twilight Princess on the Gamecube yet, but do you think the Wii controller makes it the game that much better/worse?

You have no idea how much it sucks to have Twilight Princess and Madden '07 sitting at your house but without the system!

No idea. Not a fan of DBZ games.

Two things. 1, you can actually turn off the console if you want. I think I'll be doing this since I turn off my wireless router every night anyway. Hey, 0 watts is better than 10.

To turn it off for realz, hold down the power button.

Second thing: noticed that online distributors sell Wii games for $44 and no shipping or tax charges. Looks like I'm never shopping in stores again.

They're on Froogle, but the one in particular I was referring to is DeepDiscountDVD.

Edit: Also, I've heard that Super Mario Galaxy can be 2-player co-op if you want it to be. On the flip side, it can be 2-player competitive as well. This is in the main storyline, not some mini-game either.

And oh man, we so need a Phoenix Wright game on Wii.
