The Gamecube had an extremely well launch but did not take back the market share like people had hoped it would. Dreamcast was not a disaster as well seeing how the Dreamcast out-performed the PS2 in its early times before Sega pulled the plug.

Not now, neither does Wii except TP. Apparently Resistance: Fall of Man is good though. However, you don't like those types of games, so too bad for YOU. Not everyone else who plays games rated T and M.

I hope you were being sarcastic, because this IS a good argument. A lot of people don't have room for a massive console like the PS3. Heck, I'm downstairs now at my entertainment center and I cannot find a place for that thing. I look upstairs at the other wall unit and, again, there is no room for it. All I could do is put it on the floor, whereas my Wii sits perfectly on the side of my big screen with room to spare.

So far, GTA is looking like moving onto Xbox 360. So far, RPG companies are looking to move onto Wii. And you forgot Devil May Cry, but that has chances of going to 360 as well.

Resistance is probably a great game. Is it worth paying $660?

I don't see the Playstation or Playstation 2 sucking majorly or am I just naive? Don't get me wrong, the N64 showed the world the jump to fully 360 degree 3D, however, Sony capitalized on the growing market media with CDs rendering cartridges obsolete. I wholeheartedly believe had CDs not caught on, we'd be popping cartridges into the Wii, but I digress.

This is true. Now that I have a Wii, I have no room for my PS2. Also, I cannot stand my Wii upright (and I have a paranoia with heat horizontally) in my TV stand, and it stands in a prime place to be knocked over next to my TV.

To end this rant, I'm a hardcore Sony fan.

All those consoles you named sucked. Who cares if they came before Playstation? They failed. The Playstation did not.

Sony may not have been the first to use CDs, but they were the first to use CDs with widespread success.

Even though the N64 was more powerful than the PSX, the PSX still outsold and got more exclusive third party games due to the freedom allowed with the CD format.

All those other systems sucked because no one cared about them. They could have probably done well if they had a HUEG electronics company behind them, but instead they just got sucky games.

PS. Stand the PS3 on its side, takes up less room.

Squeek, the whole "no space" argument is just bunk by now. Turn it sideways and you can stop complaining. Yes, I'm a Sony fan, but I still bought a Wii. Why? Because the Wii is obviously the best choice for a console at the moment. Once Sony gets the ball rolling with Heavenly Sword, MGS4, Stranglehold, Lair, and other games, then I'll want to get one. However, one game does not warrant the purchase of a $600 system no matter how good it is.

the games for the ps3 aren't going so well i've heard. the only good game they have thats good is resistance fall of man which got great ratings. ps3 needs alot better start cause its having a crappy start so far.

But all other points aside, I couldn't even put an N64 in that entertainment area, so a PS3 horizontally doesn't work either.

...Unless you thought I meant horizontally in the first place. It doesn't fit vertically either. The only thing I can do is try to make room in one of the side doors but I've heard that even leaving it on idle in a confined space will make it overheat. That backup fan is apparently VERY VERY LOUD.

It runs quietly at all other times though.

Meh, we'll see what comes out in 2007.

I'm going to have to wait until the PS3 becomes: uber small and better games before I consider purchasing one.

Besides, they can't jump up and down without exploding.

Well anyway, for anyone who wants one, reports are coming in that due to the lack of profit from eBay nowadays (+$100 from 20gb, +$200 from 60gb), stores are actually able to keep some in stock.

So if you want one, the initial launch hype is ending and you have a chance of getting one.

(This is me trying to sound unbiased. I really want to scream "HAH! NOBODY WANTS ONE NOW AND THAT'S WHY THEY'RE NOT SELLING!" but I won't do that.)
