Edited Ebony & Ivory submission, planning to send files to a beginner tourney batch if it’s opened.

I don't doubt that there will still be gaps after that, but at least that will make a dent in it if people target that particular area.

Lemme cook up some files then

Fixed the problem with boomerangbro's file; everyone, please check to make sure that I haven't screwed up again.

Re: Official Tournament Special Batch

Since it's been asked about, I'll provide an update, and one that is likely to anger people but I'm more than willing to field all of that myself: there's been no progress since the last update. As asked in another thread: the answer is, yes - the OT progress did in fact die.

Part of it was initially from burning out from FFR really hard after the last update of the tournament batch, and unfortunately, there are still 21 files to go. And I simply don't have it in me to do anything for this anymore at least at the moment. Content judgment, at least for me - is absolutely exhausting, even when trying to "expedite things" because I'm just awful at doing so. There's no way for me to look at content and provide one-liners or brief things.

To make matters worse, I've not even fielded any sort of idea of taking on another judge to finish things off (21 files is not a lot when passed off to other people). I will try to put a plan in place to figure out how things are going to be managed, but I don't have that yet.

Trust in me at least with that - I'll try to make October a productive month so that this OT can hopefully get managed and under way soon.

Re: Official Tournament Special Batch

Personally I feel like knowing where things are at is already a great thing. I'll be honest here I really believe that you shouldn't take all the blame AJ; judging for the OT is a big task because content should be of high quality and doing it mostly alone must be tedious. There might only be a few people who are waiting for that event but I'm a bit disappointed in how things are going with this.

I have a few open questions for staff:
Was AJ ping'd at least semi-regularly ?
Are the admins letting the event staff take care of the OT ?
Why was there no public announcement to ask for judges/help on OT ?
Are the 21 remaining files most likely going to fill the holes for the required OT files ? If not, what's the plan ?

Re: Official Tournament Special Batch

There was no need for anyone to ping me because I was the only one really responsible for not getting shit done. Kayla and I have been exceptionally busy outside of FFR-related duties trying to make various ends meet and it seems like at the moment, things might be coming to a good end at least on my side. I've wanted to do it, but not... really.

As far as the other questions: administrators and event staff have no carrying on the official tournament when it comes to management. The only time they typically help is for little side events when given clearance to do so — this is due in part to requiring accesses that most users don't have for tournament placement and management.

There was no public announcement because it simply didn't happen. That was just irresponsibility on my part, especially when I knew that the burnout was coming and basically did nothing about it. I'm either going to figure out how to handle that burnout by trying to hit the batch head-on in the near future, or if I physically cannot do it, I'll essentially place myself as an "appellate" judge, where I'll assess the scores and give really quick passover glances at other notes just to ensure that they're well scaled and fair.

I've not checked all 21 of the remaining files, but one thing that I can say is this with regards to the tournament batch: a good majority of the files are a bit on the more difficult side and I expect those remaining files to fall in same line. I expect some of them to be used, but the ones that are not used will likely fall into a regular queue and be pulled only if absolutely necessary (e.g. reserved for a tiebreaker).

Re: Official Tournament Special Batch

Our opinion may diverge on how things have gone so far, but I'd rather you not burnout than have the OT tbh.

Maybe you were in charge of all of it (and Kayla), but I feel like staff team should help each other out when necessary/possible. If all the staff has been as busy as you have in those past 3 months, then maybe new/more staff is needed. And by helping I mean ping for info, see if others could participate, and let the community know. Leaving the players in the dark for so long just can't be an option. It sucks to have to ask all those things because I (and others) am not staff and don't want to be so because of personal life, but the staff is running this site/game voluntarily so either bring/ask new people on the crew or step off the team (which shouldn't be a negatively viewed thing). I'm doing what I can to make things progress: ask what is going on.

Re: Official Tournament Special Batch

If you or anyone were to tell me to step off the staff team at this current point in time, I would absolutely do so. The problem is that I still feel bound to at least complete what is supposed to be assigned to me, first. No one should have to pick up slack for others unless they are specifically asked to do so.

This is of course inherently a problem in this situation, but there's been no coordinated plan to ask for help.

All I can do is ask for a little bit more patience while things are put into motion to figure out what all is going to happen. I put it wayyyyyyyy on the backburner compared to other things (including things like commentating/creating content for the osu!mania world cup [MWC], as a key example of how burned out I am from FFR). MWC is all but over so I can focus entirely on getting things done here on the judgment side and then at least helping push progress forward.

As I've said, give just a bit more time. I know a bunch of time has been wasted, but I'm attentive to this again. It's easier for me to get back into things when I know others are actually actively thinking about them.

Then I am really thankful for your work. Please just don't overdo it. Will gladly wait more now that things are clearer. Thanks for the update and thx Dossar for the ping there.

Re: Official Tournament Special Batch

Update: it was only 20 files, not 21 — as of this point I am down to 7 remaining for judgment, but will be taking a break until around 8 PM server time. I may finish tonight, but I should most definitely finish tomorrow.

At that point, I'll start going through fixes. Kayla has also mentioned that the batch may reopen with a cap in difficulty: that will be up to her to announce if/when we get to that point.

Thanks to you and the other staff, we can get the OT. Thank goodness, I was worried. The OT really pushed me into really playing this again, so I look forward to that whenever it gets announced.

i accidentally notes

EDIT: You can now update your files accordingly in the batch submission area. Please let me know in the thread if you've made changes corresponding to notes so I can be aware of picking them up. I'm going to make a list of all of the posted changes in this thread and compare them to previous submission notes as my next step.

(deleted old post and reposted to prevent double post but also to bump)

Mishnu was missing from the notes and has been added to Set 2 - apologies, Deamerai.

You can now check the status of your file on this Google Sheets link: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets...it?usp=sharing

The update posts and updates judged columns in the sheet correspond to the latest post I have regarding an update for the corresponding file, versus the version(s) of the file that I have judged (in the event that fixes are done and more fixes are required).
