Q: I PIRATED YOUR MUSIC!
A: great! piracy rules. piracy and filesharing are great promotional tools, and help spread the word of artists. people that love the music they pirate generally do end up supporting the artists, and the only people that think otherwise are the RIAA and the labels under its umbrella. if you buy some music from me and want to send it to your friends, go ahead! i don't care what you do with it as long as you aren't directly reselling or bootlegging it as a whole. use it in your YouTube videos, post it on your website, whatever!

Hi all, and welcome to the

FFR Bugs and Issues FAQ

where you can find some info pertaining to issues that arise while playing FFR or using the engines.

A little more about this guide
I've taken the time to go through a LOT of the Bug Report and Suggestions forum, in order to gather info on as many topics as I possibly could, as well as the suggested solutions to each problem. If someone sees information that isn't accurate or finds something that could be improved, feel free to let me know! My hope is to perhaps reduce some of the 'bugs' threads that are created because people didn't notice threads addressing their same issue.

General Problems
Real quick, there are a few issues that are commonplace that have already had threads devoted to them. Please check to see if your issue pertains to one of these things:
1. All [or some] of my Secret genre songs have disappeared, help!
2. I don't know how to clear my cache!

FFR Profiles
Help! I can't get on my main account
If you can't access an old account, send a Private Message over to aperson or Sprite-, and they'll get back to you as soon as they can.

I had an old account with lots of stats on it, can I get them moved to my new account?
FFR administration does not transfer stats and scores from one account to another, unless there is a very special/extreme circumstance.

Can I change my username?
There is far too much information and database data tied to your username to change every connection and give someone a new username.

I'm getting spam posts on my wall from bots!
FFR has a captcha system set up for account registration, but it does not stop all spam. If you receive spam wall posts, there is no need to look for a solution on the FFR forums, just simply report the profile using this button, and staff will deal with the account.

Some of my older replays don't work!

The problem stems from the fact new replays store more info then the older ones like mirror and autofail, it's also in a new format which couldn't be replicated correctly because of how different they were.

In earlier version of the engine I had code inplace to handle both the old and new replays but after 1 year of it in place, I deemed it long enough and removed it.

My replays are bugged and not showing properly!
The most likely cause of this issue is that an improper speedmod (something that doesn't end it 5 or 0) or offset was used.

It's more about how the math is done for moving the arrows, odd numbers cause rounding issues from movement.

310 x 2.02 = 626.2

626.2 / 31 = 20.87333333333333px each frame.

Flash is unable to move arrows on such a small level so it rounds to the nearest sub pixel, such as 20.8px.

The way the judging system works is based on distance from the receptors, but on extreme numbers like 20.87333333333333, the exact distance is never reached because of the rounding, and is never setup correctly. This makes notes unable to hit.

When the older engines were made, there never had user settable speeds, so extreme cases like this were never an issue.

If you've seen the R^2 engine, this isn't the case anymore since I compare how many frames it is before it reaches the receptors and not the position.

Stats bars on some profiles have more than the max AAA/FC's!
Since songs of the week have a release that is for Veterans only for two weeks, there is a possible two extra songs that someone can AAA/FC before they are released to the public, assuming the user is a veteran and can play those songs.

FFR The Game
[credit to psychoangel691 for a few of the things from this list in her temp faq after the return of the site]
Why is the game not registering my key taps?
There are several issues that can cause key taps to not register. First, ensure your keyboard is still plugged in (hehe). Otherwise, check this short list of things as well:
1. Your speedmod needs to be set to something that ends in either a 5 or a 0. Using something like 1.775426 is not going to work, and your key taps will not register. Make sure you have pressed "Set Speed"
2. Your keyboard might be "ghosting" key taps, meaning that the keyboard itself will not register certain key combinations being pressed at the same time. You can test key combinations at this link to determine which key setups will allow you to press more than two keys at once.

Is there a way to reduce the amount of lag I have playing the game?
The answer is yes! Close programs you don't need, and the easiest and most effective solution is to use the engine in a Flash Player standalone. More details on this can be found in The FFR Standalone Thread.

My score didn't record, what can I do?
For unrecorded scores, take a screen shot of the score and post it here: Unrecorded Scores Thread

My standalone isn't letting me save replays!
This could be due to a few things, ranging from you not actually being logged into the engine (you must log into FFR through Internet Explorer, more info on this in the standalone guide) to the engine having simply cached some improper info. Try clearing your internet explorer cache and see if the problem persists.

It's failing to send the credits I am attempting to send!
If you're sending credits through one of the FFR engines, chances are that it is going to fail to send. Try using the FFR Shop instead.

All of my stats seem to be reset?
Chances are that the wipe was not accidental, and was a result of some overly suspicious scores, blatant botting, or other score-wipe-worthy issues in the past. If you think that your scores were wiped by accident, send a private message to aperson or Sprite- so they can look into the situation.

Why are some of the languages in the R^2 engine missing proper translations?
The engine is a work in progress, and things were being added constantly. Keeping each translation up-to-date with the updates is beyond what most of the contributing community members bothered with. If you want to help along the translation process, you can do so here.

My settings and Favorites Genre keep resetting!
Make sure that you have right clicked on the engine, and under settings allowed the engine to store data on your computer.

I haven't received my Credits from the Credit Jackpot!
The Credit Jackpot is handed out manually, currently, so receiving your credits might take a little time. Don't worry, they're coming!

Flash Player Standalone keeps crashing!
Try clearing your cache (in your browser if you are playing on a browser, in Internet Explorer if you are using a standalone). If that doesn't solve the issue, try using a different version of Flash, some work better for people than others.

When I play a song, the arrows are out of sync with the music!
Sometimes, the sync of songs and steps can vary because of someone's connection or computer. This can be fixed by using Offset, located in the settings menu in the game. A positive number moves the arrows BACKWARDS in the song, and a negative number moves the arrows to be sooner. If the music is ahead of the arrows, use a negative number.

Other Info
If this guide has not answered your question, there are a few ways to go about finding a solution to your problem.
1. For all small bugs like typos and other trivial things, please post your concerns in this thread devoted to such bugs.
2. If you have a suggestion to improve the site or something else, please post it in this thread devoted to suggestions.
3. Your last resort can be to make a thread. Replies will not always be quick, but most of the time someone will stop by with information to help you out.

If you have a suggestion or comment about this thread, feel free to let me know. I'll work on keeping this up to date and informative so that people can find quick answers to common problems. (gimme stuff and I'll add it)
