Or whatever it's called.
I'm kinda bitter about it actually. Like any illness, most professionals aren't up on the most recent research. And once a doctor figures you have a mental illness, everything else you have is likely due to that illness in some way shape or form, which is just retarded and dumb. (Why would you settle on a diagnosis that you can't do anything about/don't really understand, especially when if you think about it as a symptom, you might actually find something else medically wrong with the person?)
Anyways, I've been depressed for years, and having family members and other random people think I'm using them/am being lazy/am not trying hard enough, has been one of the worst parts of it. Thinking back right now, I honestly have no ****ing clue how I managed to get an honors degree.
Chances are you know someone who has a mental illness, even if you don't know about it. Most people don't show their emotions and non-socially acceptable actions around. (When was the last time you burst into tears and then ran outside to show the world?)
So, I guess I'm just asking that we all take a moment sometime and consider that that lazy or weird relative or friend that we all know might not be such a bad person after all, and that they might be fighting more of a battle than you realize.
