I remember the day 6 years ago when I heard about this place, when 6 years ago I thought anime_rocks100 was the best username. Then I remember my first game, the first song I can definitely remember playing was the Captain Jack tribute song. I thought it was so hard. Now I can play the most difficult songs without even thinking about it.
The last time I played seriously was in 2006, back when it was cool in my town/school. I was honestly the best around, the nerds would come challenge me, I would win. Why did I think I was cool? I'll spare you more rhetoric. I played this game all the time, and got my first 1000 arrow combo during a social class. I got so good at this game, then left it behind for 5 years. Coming back to it now makes me wonder how I have retained the skills required to play this game really well. Chalk it up to the 4600 songs I have played I guess.
I remember how awesome it was to be rank 300 something back when that T-Shirt was made, and to know there was someone out there with my username on their shirt. Probably still is. Huh...
I really liked this game, and I still do. It's lost the social flare it once had with all the juvenile minds around, but I can still play it and think back to those middle school days. I met one of my lifelong friends through this game, and also did drugs for the first time because of that guy, funny how things happen like that, right?
One could say FFR was a gateway to the person I have become now. Then again, a person could say, "Holy you wasted an assload of time playing that stupid game."
I'll remember FFR forever as it was in my legacy days. The day it was gone (then stepmania happened), then when it came back, and I thought nothing more of it.
Thanks for sparing my nostalgia the 2 or so minutes it took you to read this. Maybe other people will post here with their memories someday, who knows what will happen - It's the FFR forums
Yours forever in FFR,
Ben
Afterthought: I can't believe I still have a working link to my Last.FM profile in my signature. Or that I thought putting Einstein as my location was funny.. Oh to be young
