    What's Alex Watching?

In here I will post movies I have watched. Right now I have too much homework, but usually I'll post some sort of in-depth analysis/reaction; I'll just do ratings tonight.

The Shining (1980): First viewing. 9/10.
    Take Shelter (2011): 4/10.
    Persona (1966): Third viewing. 8/10, down from a 9/10.
Toy Story (2010): Second viewing. 7/10; it affected me ever-so-slightly more than last time.

If you think I'm putting too much weight on these arbitrary number ratings, you're totally right! Seeya next time, after Alex (probably) either re-watches The Passion of Joan of Arc (1928) or watches Stalker (1979).

Island of Lost Souls (1932): School Film Club's first-ever official screening! 6/10. Once again too much work to really go in-depth but will probably talk about it later.

The Shining was my first Kubrick in recent memory (I think I watched Strangelove as a kid) and it blew me away. I'm going to be working through the rest of his filmography soon enough. Thanks for the suggestions! Also, sorry that this thread is sort of boring and substanceless right now.

The Thin Red Line (1998): Terrence Malick's beautifully shot WWII film has a handful of captivating scenes and, I think, "the right idea" but is overall impeded rather than aided by its extreme length (almost three hours!) and lack of narrative coherence. 5/10.
