Twice a year (once in summer, once in winter) we will have a major official tournament with 6-key files made for beginners. The game itself is lacking a lot of beginner files, and this tournament might be a remedy for that.
There is a prize. In addition to your chart going on the game itself, the winner will decide what kind of prize they want: this can be anything from cash to a gift to a creative work like the Stepmanian Theatre video WC requested when he won a previous pack tournament.
Unlike the KBO Summer 2011 Simfile Tournament, you can only use songs you have permission for. You can draw from the list of songs we already have permission for, or you can ask the artist of the song you intend on using. The song itself must be longer than 30 seconds and shorter than 6 minutes. Since this is for KBO, you do not need graphics. Also, your file must not have been released anywhere else.
What defines a beginner song? Your file must be less than 6.5 notes per second. This means that a 90-second song must have 585 notes or less. This allows considerable room for creativity, but it also means that your song would be able to be easily passed on pad were the person using a DDR solo setup. And that's the point.
The judging panel will be comprised entirely of people who suck at 6-key, and CosmoVibe/stargroup/Bufang will have the final say if the song goes on the game. We are recruiting judges right now. If you suck at playing 6-key, we could use your help.
Submissions are ongoing. Put "OFFICIAL" in the title and send an email attachment to keybeatbeginner@yahoo.com if it's under 25MB, and if it's over 25MB send that email a link using mediafire. Seriously though, be sure to put "[OFFICIAL]" in the title. You can submit a file as early as now, and you have until November 30th to get your file in.
Are you a bad enough dude to increase KBO's beginner repertoire? I think you are.
