Steam now has Free to Play games

Just recently, Steam acquired Free To Play games, with the first batch including Forsaken World, Alliance of Valiant Arms, and Spiral Knights. There are only 5 currently, but expect more of Free To Play games in the future on Steam.

However, please note that in order to get full benefits of this, you must have bought a full game on Steam.

    Details: http://store.steampowered.com/news/5657/

    Your thoughts, people.
So I've returned. Maybe I can stick around for awhile.

    Spiral Knights = meh.

AVA = I've played and the people suck - play CS1.6 or CS:S instead.

Forsaken World = lol sounds ghey

It's a free MMORPG. That doesn't make it sound good, but from what I've seen, it looks good.

Plus, it's a free game. I got 5 free games just by having Steam and paying attention.
So I've returned. Maybe I can stick around for awhile.

I'll have to check these out. I'm not really an MMO player guy, I play CS 1.6 a lot. So based on what OHN said, if it's like CS 1.6 and people are suckish, not sure if I'm gonna have much fun with it. :/

AVA- Amazing graphics great physics engine. Trust me there are good players you just have to look for them as in any game.

              Think about it this way:
On a daily basis, a total of 60,000 to 80,000 people play CS or CSS. Now AVA is a game I have never heard of. Now that it is free to play, more people may play it because they can't afford games like CS (as sad as that may be).

              Just sayin'.
So I've returned. Maybe I can stick around for awhile.

Re: Steam now has Free to Play games

                oh lol trust me

people who play combat arms and AVA shell out MUCH MORE than $15 (one time) to get better weapons, EXP boosting items, etcetera

people play "free to play" shooters because they either really can't afford $5 for css or they like whoring money for better items

and AVA generally doesn't have that many great players, and also has lots of hackers, just saying.

i would know cause i've played all of the said games in topic, save for forsaken world, which sounds like generic shit that makes up 99% of the MMORPG market these days

yes, they are also generic shit

but listen up dude, this is what makes things interesting

WoW is a success - it brings in many, many players
and the generic shit try to bring out the same formula

and fail, thus becoming generic shit because so many games try to achieve that same success and fail - coming back to my point of becoming generic shit

edit: just found out forsaken world is perfect world online, which has been out for some time now, and failed miserably when it was brought over from china 1-2 years ago.

                    point proven

Re: Steam now has Free to Play games

You could also say that about every genre of video game in the current industry. Company's copy off of each other, make a game similar to, but not exactly like, a huge hit, and then inevitable fail.

                      Example: Homefront

Hardly any games are having innovation put into their games nowadays, and when they do put innovation into their games, they end up getting low scores because people can't stand new ideas.

dude i agree with you on that

i just don't like it when companies recycle games (steam's takeover of free2play)

hopefully b&s won't let me down with its 4 year hype

The sad thing is, no matter how much they play Combat Arms, they'll never be as good as a good CS player.
