    bulwer-lytton contest

Haha, I just discovered the Bulwer-Lytton Contest, in which people write the first lines to terrible, terrible stories!

    My favorite:

Gerald began—but was interrupted by a piercing whistle which cost him ten percent of his hearing permanently, as it did everyone else in a ten-mile radius of the eruption, not that it mattered much because for them “permanently” meant the next ten minutes or so until buried by searing lava or suffocated by choking ash—to pee.

Haha, these are awesome, never heard of them either. For awhile I thought that there were actually books to go with them...wish there were, some would be hilarious!

Kinda odd and not 100% true to the description of the contest though, is that the winning entries are extremely well-written.
