    Freelance Rate Calculator

Came across a nice little tool for those of you who are thinking about getting into freelancing.

Takes the hassle out of trying to guess how much you should charge people. I know that was one of my biggest problems starting out as a freelancer. Your time is precious, and if your work is good, companies will pay you well for it. (even if your work isn't that good, companies will still pay you well for it)

According to this calculator, my hourly rate is $37.50 per hour (although I charge even more than this haha, but it's a good number to work with), with a break even rate of $16.13 per hour (don't have many bills)

I'll throw in some other interesting and useful links for all of you designers here.

This one shows interesting statistics and average rates for freelances all over the world.

This is a website designed specifically for content delivery and feedback to and from your client, absolutely indispensable.

This article shows you exactly how you should write up a design contract, also supplies you with a sample to get started with.

Create your free, one-page website in just a few minutes.

The second link explains the first link. Incredible statistics based social media splash page, great link to put on your business card.

Learn to market yourself. This is the most important one. Ever.

That's a pretty good spread, DS. Keeping expenses low is a luxury I don't have. :X Enjoy it!

Cheap rent, all cars paid off, no credit cards, life is good haha.

Freelancing is a tough road to go down, it was definitely my "starving artist" period, but once you build up 5 or 6 solid repeat clients, then you're pretty much set. I still freelance on the side for extra money and for the experience. If you can't dedicate 8 hours a day 5 days a week to being a lone freelancer, then it's still a great supplemental income if you've got a full or part time job as well.

My ideal rate is 110 dollar? Sounds too good to be true xD Break-even rate is 40 though lol.. Also my ideal should be like 50k an hour, sounds pretty ideal to me.
        Great calc though!

How the hell is your break-even rate $40 an hour? Unless you pay for your own house, multiple cars, boat, RV, snowmobile, hire a hooker everyday, and eat at gourmet restaurants for every meal, then I don't think you filled it in right xD
