    [WIP] Faint Breath

You guys have no idea how incredibly nervous it makes me to try and show you all a creation of mine. I've always had an issue with self-expression and it's still haunting me to this day...but a few people have told me to share more of my works, so I'm gonna do it.

    http://soundcloud.com/debit13/faint-breath-ffr-edit

DbX has been giving me tips with mastering and fixing, but I am not afraid to admit that I'm still having some trouble with it (some of which I had trouble understanding). I would like some input, though.

    ====

EDIT - 18:28: FFR game edit is finished. I figured if someone wanted to try to step it, they can. If not, I'll do it myself after a little while. The full version is going to be roughly 5 minutes, and I'm still mastering the song a little more, but this is as good as it'll get until I start reading up about frequency masking, and until I get better at working with sidechaining.

Sounds good for what it is so far. Sounds like a nice calming, "mainstream-y" piece of trance music.

Also never be afraid to express yourself, ever. I post some of the oddest music of mine on here and regardless of what the average viewer may think, I always enjoy a reaction, may it be positive or in some cases negative.

Hope to see more of yours in this corner

Halogen has bawls! Way to man up ;P

I must say, it's pretty good. I liked the whole ending segment especially. Sounded pretty darn good. Keep working at it!

Edit: I can't really provide a whole lot of helpful feedback, sorry..

        Hey, thanks guys.

Makes me feel a little better that I'm at least doing enough to make it pleasing to the ear. I'll hopefully work on some more of it later, and if I do finish it, I'll also upload a game cut.

Double-post/slight bump for FFR Edit being completed. Spent a lot of time today fixing mixing, some instrument volumes, and a few automation clips.

When I saw your sig, it was hard for me to come here and give feedback. Not only do I have a very picky taste in trance, but I didn't want to be negative in my commentary with having some solutions or having significant reasons for a dislike. Then I realized you want feedback, not a comparison to professional trance artists. Here's my feedback on your work alone, without comparing it to any other songs I know.

For a person who's fairly new to music production, this is a great start. It seems that all you lack is the time to brush up on your mastery of these programs, because your ideas and creativity are definitely already there. You know how to use the right key and the right notes in that key, so that's a plus. I can see originality already surfacing, even though this sounds a bit mainstream. But it's only expected since you're still learning to use these programs. Once you start exploring new ideas and software, I bet you are going to make really epic songs. Good job so far!

                Final overall rating 8/10

Thanks for giving your thoughts! Yeah, I'm only looking for feedback at the moment because I know that I'm nowhere near as good as artists who create this genre of music as well. If a person who can provide some help/tips from a professional standpoint, it'll make me feel better, but obviously they're going to have many more suggestions and much more constructive criticism as well. I'm still dabbling in this genre and after finally breaking the "curse" of not being able to finish a song, I feel a little more confident knowing that I at least have an understanding of foundation within the genre.

I've had a background with music since I was in 5th/6th grade, so yeah - you can at least expect me to be a bit more proper in terms of keys/rhythms/etc. unless I'm trying to intentionally make a different rhythm or accent, whatever.

At this point, I'm trying to show people what I can do, and get help along the way so that I can continue to get better.

Drop the hi hats, or whatever cymbal that is, during the intro. It doesn't really go well with trance after a minute into the song.

                        I demand another! :3 Quick!

Feedback: I'm no reviewer, so I'll get to the point. I believe the song takes a while to pick up and, instead of getting me into the atmosphere, it only made me kinda bored. However, I believe you outdid yourself around 1:52 - 3:02. The whole song should've been pumped up just like that part from beginning (or almost :P) to end. I STILL DEMAND MORE.
