Anyways, the world just seems to be falling apart at the seems. Currencies and economies have been so volatile over the past few years that I wonder almost every day at the stability of the current global economic situation. I have a feeling everything is in a lot worse shape than we're led to believe. This is the kind of **** that puts a match to the already volatile fires burning under the economy. Guarantee you'll see global stock markets take a plunge today.

I digress though. These tidings are significant and rather ironic, because I asked leonid not too long ago about how he felt living so close to that absolute crack pot of a dictator to his north. I find that North Korea's shelling was, as per usual, a very weak and feeble attempt at looking mighty and powerful. I'm not downplaying the situation whatsoever, but after 50+ years of military standoff, this is not the first time North Korea has sent artillery fire over the border. It certainly has been awhile since the last occurrence, but that doesn't mean we're seeing the beginning of WWIII. North Korea is just posturing like usual. As retarded as the leadership is in that country, they're not so naive as to be unaware of their position in the global community. They know what a real war would bring them.

I certainly hope so... As you said, NK knows that it would get obliterated if it were to escalate the conflict, but it still has a nuclear option, especially with the unveiling of NK's new uranium enrichment facility.
I'm not a political mastermind, but this is the NK that has tried to nuke across the seas if I recall. It is an option they possess.
And yeah... the South Korean stocks are already taking a huge dip

UPDATES ON THE SITUATION: North Korea claims that South Korea fired first, and simply retaliated. South Korea's defense ministry claims that it was a planned, intentional shelling by the North Koreans. The Russians have just stepped in and called for a cease of violence.
I'm getting this info from CNBC, cuz that's the only channel I could find that's covering the story right now
