    Unable to connect to MP (and prochat sometimes too)

    Hi guys.

    I cannot connect to MP at all. I know people were having firewall issues so I took that out of the equation entirely and tried toggling my firewall off. I don't use windows firewall (I use Trend Micro) so I didn't know how to go about "allowing" FFR or whatever. Regardless, even with my firewall off, I cannot connect to MP. It gives me the Can't Connect! message. Turning my firewall off has worked in other situations where my firewall was blocking me from running something, so I know this method is a viable workaround.

    Furthermore, I have the same issue with connecting to prochat. However I can usually get in by doing a right click -> play over and over until it lets me in. It usually just gives me the Connection Failed message.

    I have run out of ideas. It's not a firewall problem.

    My OS is XP SP3, and I use Firefox 3.6.3.

          Are you connected to a wireless router? If so, open the ports through there too and see what happens. If that doesn't work, I don't know what to tell you.

          I've tried helping users get it working, and the user who made this thread said my instructions helped along with some things they tried. Hopefully they work for you as well - good luck.

              No wireless. I'm hardwired. And yes, I am using the correct link for MP. I read the other threads, but they don't seem to apply.

                      You didn't have to add that you're using the correct link for MP, I know you're not that oblivious. :P

                          I can connect to Prochat but not MP. all ports are open, no firewall problems.

                          Fail.

                              Well first, I'm an idiot because I am behind a wireless router. I just thought I wasn't.

                              I went here and followed the directions. There weren't completely accurate directions. The steps weren't the same but I think I did everything right.



                              Note: It says Windows Firewall is off because I have my own firewall.

                              Then I cleared my cache, logged out and in, and no luck.

                                          Yeah anyone who is having this error and is tech savvy, let me know, I want to get someone running wireshark so I can see exactly what packets are going in & out when this issue occurs.
