So I decided to make a track that goes back to my trance roots. This is an energetic trance remix of the classic song So Deep by Silvertear.

    Enjoy

Trance like: yes (it drags on forever, not a negative thing, it's just a fact about trance ).

I have heard tons of So Deep remixes as it's my favourite trance song of all time (the original mix, like DDR's) so I may critique harsh but it's constructive.

You kept the main melody, but the real epicness is in the gallop parts of the original. It's a chill song. The snares rolls are very repetitive (you enter them the same way and time with a volume swell and accent). It's awesome that you mixed up the melody at 3:40. Sounds pretty cool with the syncopated drums and gallop-like melody. The drop at 5:05 is sudden and drops the feel out of nowhere. You might be able to cut that to the synth (which is cool with that newly introduced instrument). After that part, it goes back to the melody before. You could have ended it there or developed a variation. I know it's trance, but variety is very well liked. The snares at the end weren't really necessary. You could have let it die out with that big bass kick.

Opinion: Overall, it's pretty awesome. The only problem is the drop in excitement than rebuilding. You did well in varying the melody. The drums and bass are nicely done (steady and setting the tone/beat).

Thoughts: Try and work on your transitions and climaxes. You have the buildup pretty much down. Using the snares as an accent is clichéd and overused. You could use the melody to accent changes as well (the drums and bass don't always have to signify a change coming).

Thanks for the crit man, much appreciated.

I felt like the variations in the melody/style more than made up for how long the song was, but I guess not for you. I'll have to work on that in the future :P I haven't made trance in a while lol.

oh yeah, fyi the DDR version isn't the original version.
