My Nissan 32' mod 93' calsonic CG

Allright I have made alot of new stuff during the downtime of FFR, but honestly just one of them sticks out and to me, that one thing sort of makes the others do me injustice.

I'm really happy with the result, I wanted to change the direction of the windows (sorry ds) but I got robbed and lost my computer (actually my friend got robbed and lost my computer lol) so I am at school, and the only saves I have left are old saves.

To begin with I wanted to make the standard Nissan 93' calsonic, but when I looked for reference I saw that there were many people ("many", like 5) who had it already, and all the refs were 3D already. I just wanted something unique.
So I changed to the Nissan Penzoil instead but lol that was even more abused.

I then just sort of went with it and modelled the body as I saw fit; hood from nissan penzoil, front penzoil, side calsonic/spoiler calsonic.

    Picture:

I have done the wheels again, but I never got myself to render them so unfortunately it is lost forever - Though I am modelling stuff constantly though.

I really want to thank darkshark alot for this one, despite not handing out specs and techs he really helped kicking my ass into not slacking, even though I did take some bad shortcuts but next time around I'll make it right from the start, not stop and trying to fix what I did wrong all the time.
It appears to be sort of "glass" like in the material, even if I changed to carpaint I was just more happy with this raytrace result.

Hope you like it, I spent around 30 times as long time on this one as I did on the other car I showed here, also this time I made base interior! =]

    Wireframe:
(This wire is NOT smoothed! Just the hood/wheels but hood is decent anyways)

Really want to start a new project to improve/put all I learned together correctly from the start but busy with school<3 Hope you like it and I've missed you all.

You kept me updated throughout the progress of this on MSN, and it really did turn out great. You took your time on this, built things the right way through trial and error, and the final render looks pretty good too.

    My only critiques;

The side of the car, mainly the door(s), seem to be concave and maybe a bit too rounded, might need to go back and add in a few edges just below the window so that meshsmooth will create a bit more of a crisp angle. And what I said about the door being concave, I'm pretty sure the side of a real Skyline isn't sunken in like that, might want to pop it out just a hair, at least get it level.

Other than that, (I'd mentioned this one before) the scale in the final render seems just a tad too small for that background, you might want to scale it up a tiny bit so it doesn't looks like a toy.

Other than that, it's beautiful sir!

*edit: After looking it back over thoroughly, I also feel as though the "gaps" between the body panels, hood, doors, quarter panels etc...could be more pronounced, because when you look at the final render, it almost looks like the body is just one solid piece. I know you're probably not going to go back and fix this, you're like me and learn faster by just applying this knowledge to the next project instead of revisiting old ones.

**double edit: Also the shadow would be much more diffused and less crisp on a cloudy day. xD

***triple edit: You also never straightened out the sloppy windshield!

We'll see if I have the save on the computer servers I used during the summer, will have to redo the interior if so D:

The seams between the parts you're probably right on, I pretty much just eyeballed the spacing between the hood and so on.. ='(

Shadows well, uhm, you're probably right I just sort of nailed it as "elo finished", I worked so much in the end I began going blind on so much, as the shadows, couldn't figure out wether my tweaks made it better or worse =p

And concave oups, probably right considering the body is sort of square-ish.. Next car DS, next car :]

      Thanks!

I say try doing a car that you would absolutely HATE modeling.

You get the most experience from doing things you hate.

Make up your mind; should I model a hard car or get married?

OT: customstuff; despite it sounding like a good idea supra is so modelled to death already, at this point my portfolio has to stick out so it's hard to compare ;]

DS: That was a sweet car actually but I really feel like modelling a real racecar, such as Mazda Furia

I just want something that looks really awesome.. Something that will "wow" people that don't know a tad about 3D just because it's visually more sexy than the other car, to most atleast >.>

I should probably do a round car to finish exercising though, feel free to suggest more if you got any ideas!

EDIT: Wow just LOOKING at the car on your screenshot makes my head want to explode just pretending to plan modelling it.
EDIT 2: What car IS that anyways? A really old bentley? If it is, it cost exactly 80k euro in Norway

                  It's an old Jaguar.

I was thinking of modeling the Citroen GT, but I know I'm never going to get around to it.

I've always liked the way that these cars look.

                      Oh nice...

Sh*t DS I love that prototype but it's sooo little refference of it, cgcars/smcars has one made to scratch though but how they made it, god knows..

Asphyx: Zonda? I like it but it's modelled to death aswell.. I think that car is 3D actually xD

who_cares now.. THAT is a car I want to make. Which is it? I'm really bad with cars, sorry! xD I'm more a bike guy

Why all foreign cars? How about a '73 Chevelle SS? Drop some drag slicks and a blower on it, design that.
