Crosspost from FFYa because those JERKS have no interest in my PC endeavors.
So I've finally gotten around to actually purchasing my PC components, and I put it together about a week ago. Man this thing runs like a dream, I could not be happier.
The Chassis
The Corsair graphite Series 600T. The rubber grommets made the cable management exponentially easier. It's also pretty nice looking The inside of the case is so tidy that I sometimes take off the side panel just to look at it in wonder. Sooo many cool features on this case.
The Motherboard
A nice motherboard, but it's nothing super premium. Supports SLI in case I want to add another GPU later, has USB 3.0 and Sata 6gb/s which will be nice when they start making HDD/SSD's that use them.
The RAM
Again nothing high end. Moderately fast, etc. Everyone keeps telling me to overclock it but I don't feel comfortable enough with RAM. I've heard bad stories.
The CPU
Intel Core i5 750. It comes clocked at 2.66ghz~ I believe, but it seems to auto-under/overclock itself (1ghz to 3.2ghz respectively) according to load. I'm planning on overclocking it to 3.6 or 3.8ghz.
The CPU Cooler
Whoooooooooooooa, the first the I have to say. The H70 is a closed loop liquid cooling system manufactured by Corsair (They ALWAYS make good products, from PSU's to RAM to anything they care to venture into). With this on it, my CPU idles at 20°C, 50% load at 25-30°C, and at around 100% load it stays near 38-42°C. That is some of the most amazing cooling I've seen, especially for $99.99 CAD.
The Power Supply
The PSU is always top priority for me while purchasing parts. It's always necessary to make sure you have nice clean power running through your components. Top Corsair quality.
The Graphics Card
The MSi N460GTX Cyclone 1GB GDDR5. Stock clock speeds (I think) - My overclock
With my settings I get a score of around 19000 in 3DMark, annnnnd I THINK an average of 9000 in furmark (I don't really remember, though). Runs smoothly on anything I throw at it.
Cost of Operation 'It is a good day to die!'
Corsair XMS3 RAM - $101.15
Corsair 600T Chassis - $169.99
Corsair tx950w PSU - $189.99
Intel Core i5 CPU - $227.99
Corsair Hydro H70 - $99.99
MSi 460 Cyclone - $254.99
ASUS P7P55D-E Pro - $192.58
TOTAL - $1397.45 w/Tax
I think there was about 100 dollars of mail-in rebates at the time too, so let's say $1300 CAD. Good price if you ask me.
