need USB midi interface hardware that supports Vista 64 bit

I recently attempted to start composing music again after years of stasis, but I've run into a hardware problem that's specific to Vista 64 bit users.

I typically use a keyboard to aid in composition, so I attempted to use my Midisport 1x1 to connect the keyboard to the computer. Forgetting that the driver disc could only install for Windows XP (which is on the old computer I used to work with), installation of course didn't work so the midi hardware wasn't recognized.

I went to the product's website (M-Audio) and I came across numerous updates for newer versions of Windows and Mac, only to find out that the company will not make a driver update for Windows Vista 64 bit (see here). This means that I will not be able to connect my midi keyboard to the computer, and presumably will have to compose laboriously with just my mouse. From what I hear, M-Audio may not be the only USB midi interface that doesn't support Vista 64 bit.

Any Windows Vista 64-bit users here that use a keyboard to compose music? Can anyone help me find a new usb midi interface that can actually connect my keyboard to my laptop? Thanks.

LOL. I thought the keyboard you were talking about was the one we type on.

Well whatever works. Apparently, M-Audio is known for cheaper products, so if it's true that they're not ever going to make a 64-bit compatible driver, I'll be forced to look at other more expensive options. Please tell me if you find out anything compatible with it.

The other option that I'm not going to take is to upgrade to Windows 7. M-Audio is supposedly going to make a driver release for Windows 7 that includes 64-bit compatability (but this is not the case for Vista). That option doesn't seem too appealing at the moment, seeing how most other programs aren't compatible with a version of Windows that just came out days ago.

edit: I searched the web a bit and I want anyone's opinion if this -might- be a viable solution:
          Roland UM 1-EX
and apparent vista compatability list for Roland products

What do you use for your sound? I remember when I upgraded to Win7 64bit I could no longer use my M-Audio Radium via USB MIDI which was kind of a drag. But it's okay since I ended up getting a Fast Track Pro and playing it through its MIDI IN. I would say if you are still using whatever came with your computer to go ahead and upgrade to an audio interface that has MIDI (most of them do). Otherwise, you're better off getting a MIDI->USB interface like the Roland one.

Well all I need is a 1x1 interface, and not the others such as 4x4, which would cost considerably more. I've recently been suggested to try the Soundtech Lightsnake 1x1 midi interface.
