    Re: Need some input

i sort of see what your going for but Arabia and Different sound somewhat chaotic. i just feel like there isn't much structure to the overall song. and the melodies feel like that could use a touch up =/

      Re: Need some input

Arabia's got some spunk to it, but a lot can be done to make it sound wicked pro.

      1. Layer some hi-hats. If I want to break this down to the smallest fraction of audible hits, it should be 16ths rather than 8ths. In other words, do more than the standard "un-tss un-tss" pattern. Expand on it to give your signature style.

      2. Progression. I'm not gonna tell you how to make your progression, cause its your song, and your ideas. However, the progression you have goes as: (in B minor)
      i , vi, III, vii˚ (˚ = diminished)
It's a progession, yeah, but its kinda awkward. Sticking to general guidelines of trance, you could try going for something like:

      i, VI, III, V

      3. ARP THOSE BASSLINES!!! Get some basslines that move. The one you have is good, dont get me wrong. But some support would be sweet. Check out "Lift" by sean tyas, and listen at 0:28 seconds into it. That bassline you hear is one of a few that occur in that song, but its the arp'd bassline that he introduces to set the mood of the track

Those are the three big things - there's other small details and whatnot, but otherwise, the idea is really good.

P.S. When reading the progressions, capital roman numerals denote major tonality, while lower case denotes minor tonality.

And also, if trance wasnt the genre you were going for, ignore everything I just said
