I'm using Depth of Field effects...it brings only certain objects/distances into focus, then fades/blurs the near and far things. I wanted to use the Depth controls that are built right into Max, but Vray won't render it, it only renders its own depth controls, which kinda suck, but that's ok vray more than makes up for it with everything else it does. You should download it.

Ps rendering a Hi-res version now, water, fish and gravel added, touched up the ears, mouth redone, view angle slightly changed, FOV grain lowered. Render takes about 40 mins.

After this, I think I might change the tail altogether, into something more robotic, like a chainlink type deal, but other than that I'm not sure what else to throw in there, maybe some pictures on the walls.

Update.

I need to change the color of the water to an ever-so-slight blue, and get rid of that massive glare I didn't know would be there, make the fish a little bigger...anything else?

I like it. The reflections on the tail and everything. Only if it wasn't a cat, and it made sense there was a fishbowl there, I wouldn't have been able to tell. When I use FOV I don't get as grainy a picture as you do, though. The kitches desk is just texture?

That's kinda how I like it, the more I look at it the more I don't want to change the fish bowl at all. It leaves things up to your mind, instead of making it retardedly simple to figure out...makes it seem more clever I guess, or that's my view on it.

Oh I'm not saying I'm not going to get rid of the grain, just not going to change the layout of things, like the glare on the bowl and position of the fish and such.

It just takes SO DAMN LONG to render this shot to really test FOV settings, kinda just have to set it and hope for the best. That render took nearly an hour.
