    DJ United

    Hello,

I am DJ United. I am a new solo DJ Synthesizer, and I'd like your opinion on my songs. So listen to it, (the video is just to see something while listening) and give me some comments on what you think!

Don't forget to post your comments on youtube!

Needs better mastering to be done, and track doesn't sound that full... Not THAT bad though... But you need to make up your mind with what's going to be a broken beat... First it's crashes and then it's kicks... There's no constant beat... Keep practicing though...

I'm not sure what you mean by it's crashes and THEN its kicks, but thanks for the suggestions. And the point of this song was to NOT have a repetitive beat like most trance songs out there. We purposely modified the kicks and the claps to vary the song's main beat.

Eh, not really my genre, and it sounds pretty amateur but that's what you are right. Either way it seems like you have potential. Also reading those Youtube comments, FL Studio's isn't DJ software, it's producer software unless there's some feature in FL Studio's I don't know about.

I don't recognize having said something about FL Studio being a DJ software. I am but only but a beginner at this, being my first release on youtube, but thanks for the compliment.

              Sorry for the inconvenience.

[Edit:] I was actually re-reading those youtube comments, and you're right. But besides the fact that it may only be a producer software, it still can be used for DJ purposes.

Coming from a DJ myself, you can use FLS for MANY uses. It CAN in fact be used for DJ purposes, but in my opinion, as far as ease and resources go, FLS is not as easy for DJ's as say, Acid or Ableton. Serato who makes Scratch-Live, also have a plugin specific for FLS, but that's another story.

And by what I meant by having a weird broken beat is you start out with

Boom ka boom ka boom ka boom ka ka ka

Which is a normal house beat, but then start getting carried away with ka ka ka ka ka ka everywhere and then the 3,2,1 VOX comes in and there are no claps anymore, just kicks all over the place, which is simplistic percussion programming, and since it started out with the kicks carrying the beat, it's awkward to suddenly have the kicks all over the place...

I hope that helps better explain what I'm talking about

                  Re: DJ United

Yeah I'm starting to understand that my kind of song should be more repetitive with the instruments used for the main beat. I just wanted to modify it without thinking that it was my kicks who started the song. I'll remember that in my next songs.

[Edit:] But there was a point to stopping the claps in the second part of my song. Could we find a way to communicate other than this thread, as in MSN, AIM or Skype.

                  Thank you very much zajac,
Hope I can speak furthermore about FLS with you in other circumstances.
