    How can I make my songs load faster in Stepmania ?

    I have 2,6K songs and it takes ages to load them. How can I make them load faster ?

      If you are confident that you aren't going to be adding songs for a while, just enable Fast Load in your Stepmania options.

          Thanks Yeah I won't add any songs for while xD I just finished downloading 1000 songs yesterday xD

              Temporarily move some songs to a different folder so you reduce the number of files SM has to load.

                  Get more RAM for your computer.

                  My SM used to take forever to load SM even with fast load enabled because it was running off of 512MB of RAM in the past, rofl. Then soon after upgrading to 2GB, it loads in a breeze.

                      That does help--the more your computer can process, obviously the faster it will load.

                              i have 2800 files and it loads in 30 seconds without fast load enabled this is on 3.9 of course


                              it takes about twice as long to load songs on 3.95

                                  I don't care who you are or what rainy day you're saving your files for. Nobody I've ever known who has had as many (or more) files as you actually played more than a fraction of them.

                                  No need to enable fast load, no need for more RAM.

                                  If you're really adamant about keeping that many files for goodness knows why, if you run Windows, defrag. I'm willing to bet that having that many files has led to a multitude of them becoming fragmented and thus wasting time searching your HDD for it.
                                  Why would you put that in your signature? You've lost your signature rights for a month. (You'll get them back on March 10th, 2012.)
