'nth' means 'notes placed equidistantly so that there are n of them per measure' where one measure is every 4 beats. as such it's not an absolute measure of distance between notes (you can use frame differences or millisecond differences for that) but one relative to the song bpm used.

4ths are one to a beat, 8ths two to a beat, 12ths three to a beat, 16ths four to a beat...

they are represented by colours in an incremential matter. 4ths are red, 8ths are blue if they aren't red, 16ths are yellow if they aren't blue or red, 32nds are orange if they aren't y/b/r, 64ths are green if they aren't y/b/r/o. on the other hand, 12ths are purple if they aren't red, 24ths are pink if they aren't red/purple/blue, 48ths are cyan if they aren't r/p/b/p/y.

finally any white note is a 192nd that isn't any other colour. you'll never actually find a constant 192nd run though, they're just used to make certain notes stand out (they are typically less than 1/3rd of a frame off and so will make little difference to the chart in ffr) or to do ultra precise syncing

also, keep an eye out for patterns that use every second, third or fifth note of a particular note interval; for example, dead and direct commonly features 64/3ths, or every third 64th having an arrow, and at one point uses 64/5ths
