My friend Adam called me today and told me that a kid's family (Javier) from his high school was shot today because of his father, and only Javier and his older sister were able to survive. Javier heard the gunshots, ran out of the house and immediately called 911. The older sister was not in the house at the time since she was at UM. Javier went to my middle school, and he and his family were all musically talented (Javier plays viola and the piano). I usually get sad when I hear news like this, but to realize that a person you know is involved into this situation is just shocking.

Ironically, the thing I've felt most "emotional" about today was the cat abuse. The video got to me more than even those Ukrainian murder videos or this story.
Though it's pretty horrible that things like this happen, but I guess it's just so much more common in a sense.Comment

I doubt you should say that, because the Ukrainian murderer tortured cats to death, which is worse than the cat abuse...
but the story in this one didn't quite strike me as hard, because it seems like old news (repeated over and over).Comment

That's really insane. I just read this story a few days ago. I can't believe you know the kid. So sad... =/
The scary thing is that SO MANY people have been killing themselves and their families lately. Mostly because of the economy. I literally see a new story about it every week.

Yeah, people get depressed real easily. My mom was very suicidal when we first came to the U.S. because her mother had just died and we were very, very poor. I'm so lucky she decided not to kill me and my brothers and herself. x___x' Honestly.. it's really scary to think about but some people just give up. I always get myself into dramatical situations because I always try to stop people that are like this. I don't want to see anyone get hurt.Comment
