        Re: Vst Help/Question

You know, funny. I thought Vanguard was the ****, then found Albino and moved to it. And then found Massive shortly after. I've been using Massive for the longest time now, and can't think of anything else I would use. (I mean there are some VSTi's I'd still use, but Massive is used about 98% of the time)

In other words. Sorry. Can't help out here

Massive is pretty damn awesome, though I can't use it for all it's worth. I don't know much about synth programming, but I know how much potential that thing has.

Can't you draw your own waveforms with NI VSTis, or is that just Absynth?

With the OSC envelopes and LFO's within Massive, you sure can draw your own wave forms and gates.

                      Re: Vst Help/Question

If you don't know what a VST is, it stands for:

                      Virtual Studio Technology.

Basically, they are plugins to use in music maker apps; each VST (if its an instrument VST, as their are also effect VST's), is a keyboard in itself (in a sense).

There are many kinds, but they can basically be programmed to do anything, pretty much.

There are VST's that comprise of many presets (synth based for example), using maybe WAVE data to compose them. There are some that use standard analog sounds, like Sine, Triangle, Noise to create the sounds.
There are even some VST instruments that use CPU resources to emulate a specific instrument, even better than some common Wave type instruments can, as they can be more expressive.

One example I could give, is a grand piano VST.
It could compose of lets say 3 different velocities of each key, of 88 keys, so contain 264 seperate WAVE sounds, and may even contain double that to have sustain sounds, and then may have WAVE sounds of the pedals going down, keys being released, etc.
Very complex, but a VST makes the programs really intuitive to use, even with all that data flying about inside the CPU.

So yeah, basically, they are a band in a box, and there are many free ones available online, emulating guitars, basses, synths, organs, strings, you name it.

I know what you're talking about.

                        I don't need the info.

I was referring to Destasti, with his pokemon comment, when I said wtf are you talking about.

If you were answering Destasti, fine, but I think he was being dumb.

Don't waste your time with free ones.

Either buy one, or find other means of getting one.

This is all you will ever need, I guarantee it. (Except for the VSTi Orchestral.)

                            nexus is amazing

and btw, i figured out what i needed to do with albino...just took a few hours of "playing with it"

i try to stay away from vanguard, cause i've just found other vst's that do its work better

v-station i use for pads only

sylenth1 has to be one of my most versatile in my arsenal

i have a bunch others; me about any if oyu have questions

If you use several different VSTi's for different purposes... Then you've never tried Massive
