    Amateur artist with question??

Hi, I'm HempKnightUT A.K.A Trypta-fienD as my artist name, I've been a member of FFR for a couple of years, but I haven't been very active on it. I've been making music for a while, and I was wondering if I could have some feedback on these few songs I've made. I'll start with the most recent to the most ancient. The main question I have for any of these songs is it even worth me trying to put any of these in the permission subforum for evaluation?? Thanks a lot and hopefully someday I can get a song evaluated and maybe passed to get on the game. My style of music is quite a bit different than FFR's common music you would find, but I don't see anything wrong with that!

I didn't upload this song, because I already have it on a youtube video, so here's the most recent song. The actual song title is Tonight is The Beginning, but I just renamed it Requiem For a Dream Remix. Don't worry for issues of legality, I *just* logged into youtube and put into the description of my profile stating that I am the artist who made this song, and give full permission to myself to use it on flashflashrevolution.com

    Anyways, without further delay.

and last but not least my oldest song out of the three.

uhh... i only listened to your youtube link, since the others were downloads, and i didnt feel like doing that.

My initial impressions on the youtube one were that it had clashing harmonies - idunno if you were going for that on purpose, or if it was just an obstacle you faced as it was a remix and not an original, but thats what i first heard.

Put more of your originals on youtube, so I can get a better idea of your original work, then I can give more feedback

In a way yes, I was going for the clashing harmonies as to keep the song a little interesting I guess, but yeah alas as it's a remix I didn't want to add too much originality to it because in my opinion when you make a remix it should stay within boundaries of the song instead of something like the DJ Tiesto one you hear on youtube, which in my opinion pretty much doesn't even sound like the song.

The Human Theory song is already on Youtube and the link is http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pYO3R...e=channel_page. That one isn't really my favorite as it's over a year old now, but at the time it was the best I could do.

The link for the other track A New Beginning is http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z7IvSA3VYrI

        Re: Amateur artist with question??

Okay I listened to the second youtube link - it's a little better than the requiem remix..

One thing I'd suggest is to organize and/or space out your ideas more. They're good, but don't like "bring out all your big guns first", so to speak. I'm a progressive trance producer, so I can only really say things from that point of view, but organization and pacing the ideas/motifs is key.

An idea (this would be somewhat conformist, thus, its only an idea) would be to group your patterns/loops/whatever in multiples of 4 (with some exceptions). Whether it be your bass arp going for 16 bars, your kick pattern going for 8, whatever. It just makes it a bit awkward if its like, a bar of 7, before you change patterns. Unless of course, you're the avant garde producer, and wants to "da vinci" everything your own way

Good choices on vst's...I'll try to put a link up with my work in progress, along with a video, so you can see what I mean
