How to Use Stepmania to Make Songs

I know, I know - Stepmania already has a guide.

I want to improve on it and include information and descriptions that their guide could use. Also, my aim is to make this guide as "user friendly" as possible.

This is just the start of it, so bear with me. It is meant to be an "introduction" into making your own songs.

Interesting. I'm not quite sure I agree with trying to label the difficulty at which certain colors of notes appear because it's really just based on sync. Tons of level 2 or even level 1 files have blue notes (some even have yellow). Also, I've never heard the term "run" before - I've heard burst, and I've heard stream.

      I've called them runs.

Then, I suck. Still, the difficulty thing is odd. Nice description of what the arrows mean, though.

The difficulty section is used to categorize how things are labeled in stepmania. If you are running an ITG version of stepmania, you would have difficulties Novice, Easy, Medium, Hard, and Expert. I colored then based on how they would appear. When I was talking about files that have blue and yellow notes, I was talking about *official files*. I don't recall any official files that have a difficulty rating of 1 having yellow notes. I wasn't 100% sure on any level 2 difficulties having blue notes, but to err on the safe side, I would say they are *officially* introduced around level 3.

If you know of an official chart that is a level 1 that has a blue or yellow note, let me know and PM me the link of the official chart so I can make a note of it.

            chaos???

edit: for seasons 4B normal style

edit 2: for an actual ddr chart, I'm pretty sure healing vision or healing vision (angelic mix) has a beginner chart with blue notes

Chaos is a very, very strange exception.

Also, I don't think it is a 3 on beginner. I want to say its at least a 4.
