    I looked at some images online, I think I see what your problem is. The end of the stand doesn't seem to have anything that would actually hold a mic, does it?

    I actually have no idea. I'd say duct tape until someone who actually knows what they're doing suggests otherwise.

        Usually with mic stands, there's a piece that looks like a U that fastens onto the stand, and the mic slides right into that U.

        Check the mic and stand boxes again for that piece because with the mic stands I've worked with, that U piece is detachable so it probably didn't come attached onto the stand in the box. Or maybe it came with the mic. Or maybe it should have come with the mic, but it didn't, so you should buy one separately.
