              I left a link there to the topic. I didn't want to make a tl;dr post.

              I used the word "step" because it was to explain design within Stepmania (stepping a chart), or playing it with a pad on an ITG r21 machine (for example) - so, "stepping" in the literal sense. It was meant to be open ended.
