Replay Function Is Incorrect Most Of The Time

I'm not sure if this would be classed as a bug so I'm going to put it here. I'v noticed that almost ALL of the songs I play - with the exception of 1 every month or so - the replay is not exactly what I did. For example: I FC a song then I go to the replay to record it and the keystrokes are not the same as what I did, the replay will hit some arrows with the wrong timing or miss some entirely and give me a totally different score then what I actually got.

    Like the song KlungKung 2004 my actual "stats" were 1,619 - 49 - 0 - 0 - 1

But the replay screws up - well it did when I watched it
Why does this happen, and can it be fixed?

If it's something that can be fixed that is.

Well known issue, it's because replays still show the av-miss glitch.

Re: Replay Function Is Incorrect Most Of The Time

The cause of the random misses is something called an average-miss. It would basically make you miss a note because you would hit the early part of a later note instead of the actual note you intend to hit. It only happened on closely-packed repeated notes, or "jacks".

This issue has been fixed on the FFR game engine, but it hasn't been fixed on the widget engine, which plays the replays. Hence the replay can get an average-miss where you don't.

Just in case that you do not know the av-miss glitch, let me try and explain it as best as I can.

A while ago, FFR had this glitch where you could not hit repeated arrows in succession because how close they were, many times causing you to give you an average/miss combo--what is also known as an av-miss. The replay uses it's own engine to play back the replay, an engine which does not have the fix to the av-misses.

Someone else, correct me if I'm wrong, please. =)

        EDIT: Ninja'd.

It's never going away, either. Xelius doesn't code for FFR anymore.

It is because of like mentioned the dreaded av-miss glitch. It may be able to be fixed, if they were to use the same engine that runs our game in the replay displayer. I'm not exactly sure as of how long it would take to change that, but probably not more than a day.

Oh, thanks for clearing that up for me.......that sucks. I like the replays.

Wait, would it be possible to just copy the engine code that the original game uses and just edit it to work with the replay?

I'm not a flash person so I have NO idea if this would even work. Hence the question.

Re: Replay Function Is Incorrect Most Of The Time

If you're a particularly accurate player, though, knowing what score you got before watching you can usually figure out what misses are due to 'framers' and what ones aren't and just ignore them.

49-0-0-1 on Klung Kung is pretty awesome, dude.

But yeah, Silver Comet pretty much nailed the problem.

I have the same problem with my replays, and while the replays are inaccurate, they always have the number of perfects incorrect.
