Ok.. So yesterday, I was downloading some user's avatars for the christmas avatars thread, and they all were .gif's. I was fine with that, until photoshop's pre-parse module came up saying there was an error opening the file. After a while, I figured out that if I opened them in paint or something and resaved them, they'd work fine. Now, however, I realize something far larger is at work here....

Ok... So that's wrong. I decide to save it as a .jpg instead, since that's what it looks like it should be (after analyzing the properties of the displayed avatar), and it opened just fine.
Is this an error in FFR's uploading of the avatars? Changing the filetype, where it still displays a different type?
