Can anyone help me here? I was trying to make my own version of Secret Zombie Room when I realized it just wasn't coming out right. I toyed around with the menus in the create a song section, and I got to a point where it said "Compress 2x" I figured "Expand 2x" would space things out for me or change the time signature or something. I got it to expand, and then it was fine. Problem is, it only expanded about 2 measures. I moved the places to put arrows down to the exact measure where the expand stopped, went to "expand 2x" again, and it crashed. Afterwards, about 50% of the times I expand 2x it crashes, and with other songs like Ready to Fall, it crashes every time. Any reason for these weierd things? Any way to fix it? Please reply, 'cause the file I made was so much better and more accurate after I expanded.

Re: Near constant crashes in stepmania.
Let me explain how Compress 2X and Expand 2X works, you know how when you hold Shift and move the Up and Down Arrows Keys you highlight the chart with red, well at the beginning of the highlighted selection it should Compress/Expand the current BPM that was there, at the end of the highlighted selection it should have the original BPM there. In other words when you Compress/Expand it should Compress/Expand the top part of the selection and the end of the selection will be the same BPM it originally was.
If you are trying to make all of the songs BPM the same constant BPM then I encourage you to manually change the BPM without the use of Compress/Expand, I don't know why it is crashing although I do remember having it happen to me a few times, I found that it was less likely to crash if the highlighted part was highlighted using 4th notes ( red ) and more likely to crash using a higher notes like 64th and 48th's ( light blue and green ). Just reminding that these aren't solutions just things that may help.
In case you didn't know if you hold CTRL and press the Up or Down Arrow Key you can zoom in, which makes the notes appear more spaced out, it helps a lot when stepping songs.Last edited by DarkAdrian; 11-7-2008, 09:04 PM. -

Thanks so much. I had no idea I could zoom in or out. As for the other thing with lower beats, I'll try to pay more attention to that.Let me explain how Compress 2X and Expand 2X works, you know how when you hold Shift and move the Up and Down Arrows Keys you highlight the chart with red, well at the beginning of the highlighted selection it should Compress/Expand the current BPM that was there, at the end of the highlighted selection it should have the original BPM there.
