    FFR, I need your help.

    I'm trying to make some prints on DeviantART, and when I preview said print ( on the site ) it is somewhat distorted.

    When I go into Help, it tells me that my image quality isn't high enough.

    From the Help Desk:

    • We accept JPEG and PNG format images. The BMP format is supported, but use thereof is strongly discouraged due to the extreme file sizes it can produce.


    Yet it says somewhere else:

    Should I submit print images as RGB or CMYK?
    • Please submit all source files as RGB.



    When I saved a copy as an .rpg, it was not recognized.



    Basically, I'm asking; what do I save it as, and how?

    The image is certainly large enough, 1000x750 pixels.
    I'm trying a 4x6" print first.

    When I go to resize said image in Paint Shop Pro, it tells me it's 13x10".


    Does anyone on here have experience with DeviantART, high quality photographs or the like?

    -Yes, I have tried every option.
    -Yes, they are all distorted.

      Open the file, take a screen shot, save it, open it in Paint, make it the desired size, save it, upload it.

          RGB means the color mode of the image, most image editors automatically are in rgb mode, unless you're editing an image that was either in index or grayscale mode.

          edit: It's best to save as jpg

          Now, normally photographs are printed somewhere between 200 and 300dpi, usually 300dpi is asked for by publishing places. I'll come back and post what the pixel size for a 4"x6" image at 300dpi needs to be once I figure it out.

          edit: a 4"x6" image at 300dpi is 1200p x 1800px

          So, to make your image fit 300dpi for a 4"x6" photo, you'll need to scale your image to 1800 x 1350, and then crop out 150px off of the height, and then save it as a jpg image

          another edit: If you have a larger source image, it would be better to use that and scale/crop down to size than to scale the 1000px x 750px image up. Also, a 4"x6" image at 200dpi is 800px x 1200px, just in case that's the minimum required dpi
