Good luck, make them eat your dust! No, literally shove dust and dirt down their throats and tell them they're your bitches.

Re: Yay, My first race of the season.

        Typical 5k strategy is
Mile 1 go out hard but not too hard, you should be around 5:20-5:30 if you are planning on going sub 17:30.
Mile 2 you endure. Stick to somebody who is about your level, perhaps a little better than you to keep you moving fast and don't lose them.
Mile 3 you want to pick it up and run faster than mile 2, especially when running for place.
Last tenth is the end of your kick, which I recommend starting from as far as half a mile away.

        Have fun, good luck, etc.
        Note to self Finish.

I'm also interested to hear how you did.
The meet I ran today was ridiculous.

We had to run through a stream twice and then we went gradually uphill until there was a steep drop off where we had to run through a huge mud pit, and two water/clay pits, then a slippery insanely steep hill (where we crawled) just to run downhill some more and then "run" (Though most of us walked) up an extremely large hill side (about a 3/4 of a mile and pretty steep) just to have to care go down this insanely steep hill and go through all the mud pits and crap again to finish the race.
